Bad idea. Potheads love cereal.

I was thinking the same thing...

Just trying to do my best SNL Weekend Update "Really?" schtick :jimlad:

(MacGruber and Weekend Update are really the only legitimate reasons to watch SNL anymore - sad, really. Well, I guess the digital shorts every once in awhile, but even those are extremely "hit and miss." Even the musical guests suck nowadays)

SNL has actually gotten a little bit better in the last few months, even without the election to use as a crutch. The Neil Patrick Harris episode was probably one of the best in years...

I for one think Kellog's has the right to drop him but Its not like he has not had prior incidents. He did get a DUI 4 years ago so its not like this is the first time has has used "bad judgement".

I'm not going to knock him for smoking weed, thats his decision. When I was 23 I made the same decision in much the same way. Its just that I did not have million dollar contracts to be a spokesman. I'm just saying when you are that much of a "high profile" person you need to be a lot more careful who you do that sort of stuff around. I bet the weasel who took the picture made a bunch of cash selling to the newspaper that broke the story. Nothing more American these days then cashing in on someone else's misfortune and someone else's fame.

This.

I don't really have a problem with him smoking pot. I guess the problem I have is with how stupid he was to let someone take a picture of him doing it. Millions of dollars hang in the balance, and he thinks its a good idea to smoke pot seemingly in front of people he doesn't know? Idiot.

This day and age everyone has a camera on them. If you're going to do it, do it indoors with trusted people.

I find the US Swimming's ban to be a little bit of a joke. They said that they "had to come down hard on him because he's such a role model and we had to prove a point." Really? Did Phelps actually have any swimming events planned for the next 3 months? I highly doubt it, especially considering the "6 month break" Phelps said he was going to be taking following the Olympics - as in he wasn't even going to be getting in a pool. That 6 month period is only ending now, and it's not as if he needs US Swimming's permission to go jump into the pool at the nearest YMCA. This suspension was a total PR move with little to no substance behind it.

Actually, I heard on the radio this morning that Phelps was apparently supposed to participate in the Texas Grand Prix (of swimming) at UT later this month, but that now he will obviously not be participating.

Big loss for everyone, I guess.

My theory on SNL is that everyone says it was always better back than. When it was Sandler and Chris Farley people said it was better with Chevy Chase, when it was Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon people said man it was better with Sandler and Farley, now with Andy Sandberg and Seth Meyers people say it was better with Ferrell and Fallon.

SNL has always been hit or miss, when they hit they hit big (van down by river, Tina Fey as palin, celebrity jepordy ect.) and we all remember and love it. When they miss they miss big. You watch for the hits and put up with the misses

I agree with most of this, except that I've never found Jimmy Fallon to be funny.

I've been around for all of these eras. The difference being that the the previous eras actually got me to laugh on any given Saturday on any given skit. The last several seasons, especially this season, it has been extremely rare that outside of Weekend Update, Digital Short, or any political skit that I have laughed at all. Dead serious. It's just not funny anymore.

Not only that, but those previous eras have left us with memorable "serial" skits such as Wayne's World, the "good-enough-smart-enough" guy (his name is slipping me at the moment), NPR ladies, the Ladies Man, Mary Katherine Gallagher, and the Spartan Cheerleaders. What is this generation of SNL castees going to leave us with - Laser Cats? Wow, how exciting (*yawn*)

I guess I'm getting old or something but I think Kelloggs made a good choice. Just because someone is a good athlete doesn't make them a good spokesman. With that said, I don't think he was a good spokesman to begin with. Have you ever seen the guy on TV? He 's an idiot.

During the olympics, Costas did a simultaneous interview with both Mark Spitz and Phelps. I really felt embarrassed for Phelps. Spitz was so eloquent and insightful, and Phelps just sounded so...empty. At the least, Phelps is not a good TV interview...

Wait, you're telling me a kid smoked dope?

Lock him up. I can't think of a better way to spend tax dollars than letting these violent pot smokers rot in jail.
