Pete should be in the hall. But if never happens I wont care. Greatest hitter of all time, well Ichiro might have an arguement there.

There are a lot of pieces a **** in all sports but that doesn't take away from their skills.
It seems like you think I’m saying he wasn’t a good baseball player when I’m not. He seemed like a piece of **** person, that’s all I said.

So conflicted...he, himself...and my feelings toward him! Loved watching him play (old enough to remember the second half of his career)...but dang, not sure I would trust him with anything of value!
At least wouldn’t trust him with a 14 year old

Then don't put him in the HOF for great citizens, but him being a jackass has nothing to do with how good he was at baseball.
True, but he broke the one rule that is in every clubhouse, Do not gamble on baseball, which he did do. Then he compounded his gambling by lying about it, even when presented with all the evidence that MLB had on him, and he still refused to admit that he gambled on baseball.

Ray Fosse had chronic pain in his fractured and separated shoulder for the rest of his life
Fosse also got severely injured breaking up a fight involving Billy Martin. Fosse was blocking the plate without the ball, which right now would be illegal. Back then, I think the rule was a little different. Had Rose slid, he would have probably ending up spiking Fosse, not intentionally, according to Joe Torre. I agree. Not defending Rose on that play, you do not want to see it happen, but like my dad said, an outfielder who throws down the third base line to get a runner out at home invites a bad collision.

That is a real shame his HOF issue did not get resolved before his passing. Had he only admitted it early on and asked for forgiveness, but such a stubborn fool.

I think he should be in, but I've never gotten the argument that once someone passes they should be in. It was a crappy thing to do to Ron Santo to not put him in until after he passed.
Great player no doubt - would easily be in based on his play. And…lots of smoke around his betting on sports, on baseball, potentially on his team while a player and manager. He agrees to the ban and eventually, years later, admits he bet, but didn’t bet ‘against’ his own team. He crossed the line, he stepped well over the line. There should be lasting consequences for that.

- First All-Star Game played at night

- Riverfront Stadium had been open only about two weeks
We went to a couple of Reds/Cards series in Riverfront, typical cookie cutter stadium. They were all made to play both football and baseball, and left a lot to be desired as far as seating to watch the game. GAB is much better to watch a game in, but you could say the same about St. Louis, Pittsburg and Philly.
