Pete Rose passed away...83 years old

So conflicted...he, himself...and my feelings toward him! Loved watching him play (old enough to remember the second half of his career)...but dang, not sure I would trust him with anything of value!

Not a fan, always thought he was a prick, but now that he has passed, MLB should put him into the HOF. Just make sure that they say on his plague that he was banned from baseball for gambling.

I think he should be in, but I've never gotten the argument that once someone passes they should be in. It was a crappy thing to do to Ron Santo to not put him in until after he passed.

I would generally with what you are saying, but Rose was a jerk about the whole process and did agree to the punishment and then acted surprised that he was no longer eligible for the HOF. He deserves to be in, for what we did on the field, and the league gets the last laugh that he never got to experience getting in himself.

Yeah I'm not really sure how a league that has like 10 different betting partners can really keep him out for that. I don't think he was ever proven to be betting on his team losing was it?
No, but he did bet on his team to win, at times. What decisions did he make in the games he did not bet on, perhaps with an eye towards a future game he did plan on betting on? The integrity of the game was damaged every time he chose not to bet on his team to win.

I wouldn't put him in the hall. But with how much gambling has become part of sports, why not.
