Big 12 rankings:

6. Texas
17. Oklahoma
23. Oklahoma State
33. Baylor
46. Iowa State
48. Texas Tech
50. TCU
55. West Virginia
56. Kansas
61. Kansas State

Little brother comes in at No. 54.
Iowa focuses all there might on football being a national power. Maybe that explains the ranking?

This is pretty great. We are at or near the bottom of the Big 12 in spending. But we made a slight profit. Iowa spends $30 million more than we do and operated at a $2.5 million loss. And yet our athetlic program is better.

The overall program has been pretty darn good for the budget we have. I am a fan of the full program, not just the premier sports so this generally pleases me and I like being above Iowa on the average although we dropped to #59 this year and they stepped up a couple to #51.

Don't doubt it. Barta would love to drop all women's sports. Athletic departments are supposed to be a male only fraternity. Can't be dealing with lawsuits everytime someone's feelings get hurt about being discriminated against.

8 PAC12 schools in the top 30 is a shock to me. Makes me think that a conference partnership with them would have way more benefits outside of just football and basketball.

They gain ground by offering sports that few other schools offer (water polo, women's lacrosse, rowing, beach volleyball, etc.).

Just comparing ISU and Iowa...

2017 - Iowa +48.5 (Iowa scored 102.5 pts in sports ISU doesn't offer)
2016 - Iowa +29 (56.5)
2015 - Iowa +9.5 (150)
2014 - ISU +324.25 (32.5)
2013 - ISU +176.08 (140)

Apples to apples, the last time Iowa beat ISU in Directors Cup was in 2010-11.

Interesting to rank this to the revenue thread. We're two spots better than our revenue ranking. Some schools are way higher or lower but we're almost spot on.

Close, however it's more like this: "Director's Cup? Who cares about olympic sports? We only care about revenue sports like football and wrestling! Average those two together and see where Iowa ranks!"

Other fan: "Um, wrestling is an olympic sport, same as the others you're eliminating."

Hawk fan: "Doesn't matter! We only care about football and wrestling. Other sports don't count!"
