Welcome back to "On That Note," weekly CF music exploration hosted by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and me, cyclones500.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony is Friday. Post a few of your favorite songs by this year’s inductees. You’re allowed more than one per artist.

(This is not a thread to argue for or against merit of performers’ inclusion in HOF.)

This year’s inductees:
  • The Cure
  • Def Leppard
  • Janet Jackson
  • Stevie Nicks
  • Radiohead
  • Roxy Music
  • The Zombies
My first selections will come in my next post. Feel free to fire away!

Since I'm the huge Zombies Fan I'll post some of my lesser known favorites.

This is probably my favorite track. From the LP: Odessey and Oracle. Such a perfect pop/psych masterpiece. Yes, I've posted this several times before. It's great, Okay?

This is one of the singles that inexplicably never charted either in the US or UK. Maybe a bit too advanced or jazz-flavored for the general record buying public of the day. I've always loved the way it transforms from a fairly standard pop song to a jazzy swirling flourish at about the 1:46 mark.

To show they could take another's songs and put their own touch on it. This Bacharach/David composition certainly shines with Colin Blunstone's incredibly soulful vocal. This was not a commercial release. Just a drop by at the BBC for a radio show. Hard to believe this group was not more successful in the day...

This was to be on their followup album to Odessey and Oracle but it was not released until the late 80's or 90's. On this one Rod Argent is on lead vocals. Such a cool song about the prospect of spending an entire day just doing little or nothing (making love?) with your special someone. Beautiful, clever pop song.

I've always wanted to post this song in some kind of CF thread in which ISU is vying for a national championship in MBB or Football. Kind of a crazy thought but if that ever gets to be a 'thing' look for it from me. If I'm still alive and kicking.

"In 1974, Joe Walsh tasted tragedy. His daughter, Emma, was involved in a car accident, passing away at only three years old. A decade later, Walsh and Nicks drove through the mountains of Colorado together; when Nicks complained about a trivial matter from the shotgun seat, Walsh responded by talking about Emma’s death. This knee-wobbling shift in perspective produced “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?”, one of Nicks’ most beautiful ballads. It’s a tribute to Walsh, Emma and anyone who ended up without a song."

I was not aware of that back story. Cool.
