On That Note: Put Me in the Movies

When I went to ISU they used to show movies in Carver Hall for free. My girlfriend at the time and I watched this movie there. We’ve been married for 43 years. I’ve always liked the movie and the song, but I’m not sure what lesson your mom had in mind!

We didn't have a lot of money when I was a kid, and that movie has a lot of ups and a lot of downs for both Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfuss's characters. The only thing I could think in terms of a lesson was deal with the "downs" and appreciate the "ups" but always "keep your wits about you," one of her favorite terms.

When my niece and nephew were little, I tried to convince them that they should be Wilco fans because this song was in the SpongeBob movie.........it didn't work until nearly 20 years later.

I don't think this one made it in yet. But I can't hear "You're the One That I Want" from Grease without thinking of the final sequence in that film at the carnival. RIP ONJ.

I dare anyone to find a song's lyrics that fit better for a show than these though. It's as if the song was written for it.
