Was looking for something completely unrelated to this and discovered that Meat Loaf released his second album "Dead Ringer" in September 1981. Thinking I didn't remember it because it's really not all that memorable and didn't chart well in the U.S. But it did hit #1 in the U.K. So had some fun pulling these up and reviewing memory lane.

First one features Cher

“Cereal Killers”
Too Much Joy
1991 (no specific release date)

I file this in the honorable-mention cabinet. Its running time/track-count is a bit steep, it could benefit from some cuts. Even so, it has plenty to offer. TMJ is not for all tastes, but if it catches you, it’s a blast (usually).

(NSFW: one “f***” reference - right off the bat!)

A favorite line: “I said things I am ashamed / To the girl with three first names”

“Everything you ever said is brilliant / Anything you want to do is fine with me”

"Three triple-bars came up / we won 600 bucks!"

“I feel like I’m trapped in a book about someone else” // “Everyone should sleep with everyone tonight”

Someone pointed this out in the Youtube comments for Scenario (Yes I read the comments)

All of these albums weren't just released in 1991. They were released on THE SAME DAY!
September 24th, 1991

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low end Theory
Nirvana - Nevermind
Sound Garden - Badmotorfinger
RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magic

And yes I would have shared Nevermind if it hadn't been shared already.

I only did 2 songs.

Good point -- reminder to @cyhiphopp (or anyone), you can cite "Nevermind" if you use a couple of clips Rulzzz didn't use.

Did you use only a couple for Pear Jam, too? (Or did someone else add some to that).

If nobody adds clips for Nevermind soon, I'm gonna do it. :)

Oh I know. I monopolized the thread for long enough. I'll leave the rest to y'all.

'91 was such an incredible year for an impressionable kid like me. Some of my favorite albums were from that year and still stuff I listen to often. In no particular order off the top of my head, Use Your Illusions, Badmotorfinger, Ten, Nevermind, Black Album, No More Tears, F.U.C.K, Temple of the Dog, Out of Time, Blood Sugar Sex Magik are all '91 albums that got a lot of play in my boombox. Greatest year ever IMO. Such a great mix of the old and the new grunge sound that I fell in love with. Then throw in some Ropin the Wind, Don't Rock the Jukbox, Western Underground and now I uderstand my musical taste of today.

I turned 12 that year and I had just recently really started listening to music and figuring out what MY favorites were.

1993 might be the only year that could top 91 for me.

'93 did introduce us to the Pumpkins, Tool and Counting Crows. You have a good argument.

Brooks & Dunn - Brand New Man
I didn't see this one posted but this is the debut studio album for them and it produced 4 number 1 hits on the Country charts.

Brand New Man and My Next Broken Heart charted in 1991 as #1 singles. Neon Moon and Boot Scootin' Boogie charted at #1 in 92 but were a part of the 91 album. Lost and Found charted at #6 in 92 as well.

Definitely one of the most iconic country music duos and have always enjoyed their music. Brought back some western swing in some songs and covered a lot of different themes. I didn't discover the album until the mid 2000s but really enjoyed listening to this music when I was out on the family farm. Some of these were also big hits at the bars when I was in college and I actually impressed who would become my GF at the time by knowing the line dance to Boot Scootin' Boogie.

I think I told this before. I heard the first song on the radio. Was telling my buddy from ISU about it. We both said we liked some of the Go gos songs. He said "Our Lips are Sealed." I said I hadn't heard that one. Only "Honest I See You" - which was me mishearing the lyrics to... Our Lips are Sealed.

“Beauty and the Beat” officially turns 40 today (7/10).

Notable excerpt from a Salon article (link to full story below):
“It was the first album released by an all-female band who played their own instruments and wrote their own songs to top the Billboard album chart. Forty years later, the Go-Go's are still the only all-female band to achieve this feat.”

As a boy that was close to becoming a teenager when the Go-Go's hit...I LOVED their videos! But truthfully I really liked their songs too! They wrote some wonderful radio-friendly pop-rock songs that were fun to listen to! Glad they are getting recognized for their contributions to music!
