On That Note: Making “Hey!”

The Hilton band used to play it at every bball game. I feel like its been so long since I've been to a game (dang COVID), so I can't recall if they still do.

Yep. I played it in Pep Band in the early 2000s. But I loved it before then. It was one I'd hear on my dad's radio as a kid.

I've never heard the non-Jimi versions. Nice. Jimi's is still the best.

Simon wrote this song when Art Garfunkel went to Mexico to be in the movie Catch 22. He starts it out with "Tom get your plane right on time. I know your part'll go fine. Fly down to Mexico..." which was his not so veiled addressing of the song to Art harkening back to this period. Simon was feeling professionally abandoned at the height of their popularity. My favorite cut on a very excellent LP that also contains Bridge Over Troubled Water.
