Assuming Royce returns, other team's boards should be having this thread about us. We lose Scotty and Allen. Replacing Allen with Lucious should be an improvement, imo. This isn't because Allen is a bad player, but because we'll finally have a natural PG in the starting line-up. Clyburn filling in Scotty's spot I'm less sure of, but by all accounts Clyburn is a good scorer so it should soften the loss. Then you figure in the incoming freshman (especially Niang and Long) and general improvement amongst the younger guys. We should be pretty scary.

I look at it this way:

Allen, Scotty, Babb and McGee are all traditional shooting guards. None are a true PG, none are really an athletic slashing wing.

We replace Allen with a true PG and Scotty with a true wing, so next years team has a LOT more balance in terms of starting skill sets than this team.

So the starting lineup would probably look like
1. Luscious
2. Babb
3. Clyburn
4. Ejim
5. White

Looking pretty good to me

Don't really see what else it could be. We'll have one of the best rebounding teams in the Big XII next year. Clyburn led Utah in rebounds last year, averaging 8 per game.

I agree that Okie State could very easily be a top tier team next year. Bottom line is that there is a lot of talent coming back next year in the B12. KU, ISU, Texas, Okie State and Baylor appear to be set for a good year. I have no idea about WVU and Huggy Bear, but I'm sure the'll be solid. The only down teams I see are TCU and TTech, with Oklahoma being a wild card.

I'm inclined to agree. I don't think we'll be quite as good of a 3pt shooting team, but I also don't think we'll need to be.

Oklahoma State will be good more than it's not. Just that level of program. Shouldn't be surprised when they get better.

I have no doubt in my mind that if Nash left after this year he would be a first round pick. He is 6'7 with tons of athleticism and potential and has been getting better as the season has progressed.

I'm not so sure about that. It sure looks like the arrival of an NBA team in the state has cut into their support quite a bit. I'm not saying that everything revolves around fan support or that they'll never be a Big 12 contender again, but I don't think it's inevitable.

Losing Christopherson is going to be a much bigger blow than some realize. I hope someone can step up and not only make some threes but also be a 90% plus free throw shooter. Can Luscious shoot it?

Kansas will be good again next year but might take some time to get there because of all the new players they will have.

Baylor will lose Acy, Anthony Jones, Perry Jones, and possibly Quincy Miller.

Texas and Kstate will be good.

Plus West Virginia.

McGee will fill that role off the bench. Babb is a good shooter when he is feeling it. I dont know much about Luscious as a shooter though

Edit: Luscious is a career 31.7% 3 point shooter and 72.5% free throw shooter

Those two are still above average three point shooters. Also Clyburn is a 40% three point shooter.

And no one says we have to win next year the same way we're winning this year. White/Gibson/Booker/Niang is a pretty good low post combo.

The FT shooting is going to be the biggest thing to replace IMO, Scotty's ability to get 3's off has come and gone but in a few games he neutralized that by gettig to the line. I'm hoping Luscious can match that, we will miss the 3's from SC for sure but I think we'll be a more balanced team on offense. I mean, when you look at this year our offense has gotten stagnant at times when we weren't hitting 3's, we need more balance.

If Nash leaves it will be the stupidest decision he's ever made. Next year has potential to be very good for OSU. Smart can play multiple positions (hopefully including point guard). If we get Darrell Williams back that will add some depth behind Cobbins. Soucek will hopefully have put on some muscle and be able to battle down low (he was supposed to redshirt this year).

The core group of Nash, Williams, Brown, and Cobbins will be very solid again for us.

Hopefully we can do well next season.

Also Ford will be here for at least two years more. Holder won't fire him for awhile (can't afford to).

Scotty is our one 3-point shooter that opposing coaches refuse to let get shots off. That opens up a lot of things on the block and for the other shooters.

Aside from the part that he is probably our most outspoken team leader during games and has done far better than anyone could've hoped with point guard responsibilities.

So as someone who has watched him play more than most of us, do you not see Nash as a first round pick?

I think OSU being good is good for the conference, but yeah, I wouldn't mind them having a few more down years till we are better established again.
