Came home from Des Moines to Greenfield (Exit 86) last night on I-80 at 10 PM. Drove mostly 45 to 55. No problems.
Not Iowa but drove from Weatherford, OK to Dallas area late yesterday. Apparently, they don't have or use snow plows in southern OK!! 6 inches or more on I35 and it was just packed down on the road into an icy mess. Long trip to say the least. We left Iowa early to avoid the storm and got one anyway.
Merry Christmas (a day late)!!
So, looking at the DOT map. I-35 is completly covered and no towing....has anyone driven between Indianola and Ames yet??
I plan to make the trek from Ames to Indianola tomorrow, but I doubt that will help you much...if you end up going, let me know your thoughts!

I35 Ames to DM: Nearly dry, almost all clear. Just turned east on to I80. You should be good to go tomorrow.
Am I the only one who feels like wew got the shaft in CR?
For some reason, probably the fact that I am a snowmobiler, I always am super dissappointed when we miss out on the big snow.
So, you got the shaft by not having as many people in the area miss Christmas with family? And had less likelihood of fatal crashes, because there wasn't as much snow there as you were hoping for? Bummer...
Wow, overreact much?

Maybe I could have added a pirate. But, I get tired of everybody crying that they didn't get enough terrible weather. When over half the state, and much of the midwest is disappointed that they couldn't spend time with family, and/or had time shortened. There will be plenty of time for bad weather. We're about 20% through the winter...
