Just helped my parents clear off the driveway. I'd say the omaha area where they are (132nd and Dodge for those that care) got a foot or so. Drifts around the house and around the cars were pushing 4-4.5 feet. Winds are starting to die down as well thankfully. A real light powdery snow so it wasn't bad at all to clear.

Just drove from Ames to Cedar falls safely took about 2 hours with about 50-60% of the trip having whited out patched with limited visibility. Roads were pretty good 30 was better than highway 20 wind was pretty strong at times. Not to bad of a drive as i thought id be.

I'm on the very Western edge (pretty much Waukee)....I'm actually in Dallas County. If you are in "old Clive" down by 86th or so I could see the difference.

There was definitely more than 3" here, but certainly not more than 5".

It has been snowing here in Clive again about the past couple hours. I just went out with my ruler and measured 4" to the dot at about 4:15 p.m. I live near the Best Buy at University.

We are getting light snow in Ankeny. I have not tried the roads yet, but plan to later to catch the NFL game tonight.

I cleared mine all off today and I would guess somewhere around 12" also. Really hard to gauge it because the wind has blown the entire time. It stopped snowing for a while but has started up again. They are guessing another 3" by morning.

I'm guessing 6-8 out here in Waukee. Definitely not the monster they were talking that's for sure.
Speak for yourself- Im in NW Iowa and it has been snowing here for practically 28 hours straight. Probably have between 12-15 inches (hard to tell because of the wind blowing it all around.) Most of the roads are or almost impassable. Oh yeah, we have been without power a couple of times.....

Yep, just depends on your specific location, as usual. A lot of people (that were most often forecast to get the worst of it) got HAMMERED with this storm. Others, that were a lot more iffy with amounts and severity missed out. That's part of the forecasting game that is played with the models and different people's opinions.

Ya I should have clarified that I meant in the Waukee area. I think NW Iowa was pretty much ground zero for this storm it sounds like.

Looks like Atlantic was pounded.

i know crawford county was hit really bad with ice before the snow. at one point this a.m. they had 11 inches, and were to get more after that.

Yup, NW Iowa was hit pretty hard. Got maybe 18-20 inches here I'm guessing. Took me and my brother a good 2 hours to clear off driveway with a loader and a shovel. Good 10 ft. drift right in front of the house.

Can anyone fill me in on I-80 west from DSM through Nebraska? DOT reports still say much of it is closed.....true? Is it just from blowing snow or is it slick? Would love to get to Kearney, NE to see my parents.
