Couldn't watch the game and judging by the result and box score that was probably a good thing. If someone would have told me Kalscheur would be fire and that we would commit only 10 turnovers I would have expected a 10+ point victory at home.

I'm hoping someone will answer a few questions without me having to sift back through.

- Was the team, in particular Holmes, as bad at over-helping and leaving shooters wide open as we have the last several games?

- Tamin took 3 shots. Did WV dare him to shoot and sag off the entire game?

- We had a lot of fouls. How many fouls were committed by senselessly bodying or failing to concede on easy looks?

- Did we continue to waste the first 20 seconds of the shot clock by slowly getting the ball up court and proceeding to run our perimeter weave? I'm assuming that's a yes giving our shooting percentage.

Other than having a half-time lead (I see we had a 7 point 2nd half lead with about 8 minutes to go), it looks like we executed the 2nd half collapse script to perfection.

Gabe was hot, but received 2 fouls in the first 4-5 minutes and then came in and got a 3rd in just a few minutes of play in the first half. When he was out, we were a totally different team. You mention the 8 minute mark, guess when Gabe got his 4th foul and went to bench.

They were down 8 at half and actually showed life. The team lacks a closer and good shooters. They had some good looks and flat out missed

At the beginning of the season most agreed they will struggle to score. Some of the 5 year guys were exceeding their scoring metric s by a lot in early Jan. Ended up not being sustainable. Guys in year 4 and 5 are going to go back to their historic shooting percentages.

Honestly if ISU players kept their cool after the flagrant they probably win this. Gotta be smarter when you are gifted something like that. I think TJ took a veiled shot at his players in the presser not being smarter

I'm not convinced the talent thing is true. Blowing a 23 point second halfead to Tech, losing our composure twice now against WV and OSU, and getting beat at home by a bad OU team is more between our players' ears and making coaching adjustments. Those things have all been abysmal.
There is as much, if not more, mental toll as there is physical toll for a lengthy season. It affects players as well as coaches. We kicked it in gear up through halfway of the marathon & we've done enough to place well into the top 64, but most league teams are passing us coming up to the finish line.

I'm just stating facts. We lucked out in our first round opponent. We also faced a way overranked Wisconsin team with a bust prospect in Davis who is barely in the G-League today after being a top first round pick in the draft.
The first team we faced a team with a pulse, we got run out of the gym.

So...you didn't like the winning.

Yay!!!! We got to watch them continue to lose. How fun.

Hopefully we get out of the Big 12 grind and get a team like Iowa, Miami, Uconn, or Missoiri. I'm confident we can play with anyone once we get out of the Big 12.

Nobody is making you turn the TV on move onto something else. Evidently from your post you were too lazy to show up on Sr night. There was a ton of effort by the guys last night just didn't result in a win. It is a far cry from the Prohm yrs so though not perfect they are improving.

I think maybe in this thread and others it's time to stop comparing TJ to Johnny. TJ is doing a good job......but he is no Johnny. That makes as much sense as people comparing GMAC to coach K.

They played the Badgers a few miles from their home court it was a home game for them.

1 and done tournaments are all about luck. Are you kidding me with the **** you are shoveling ?

Their is constructive criticism that is fair, and then there is the hyperbole ******** you spew.

Johnny didn't "step down". and he wasn't fired.
The administration just told him he wasn't going to be the head coach any more.
That must have been really tough on him, being treated that way.

Saw the box this morning, looks like Holmes and Gabe had solid games and we still lost. What a shocker, this team is toast and this coaching staff should be held accountable for this trainwreck.

Absolutely unacceptable!!!!

So...you ARE going to discuss ISU basketball?

Far cry from Prohm's last 2 years.

Unless you were one of many on this site who hated him so much you needed therapy when he was winning....then carry on.

F*ck you do your own research you whiny b*tch . Then send your synopsis to the coaching staff.

I love how people downplay Orr's impact on our program. He also beat tons of ranked teams at Hilton, including a lot of great non conference teams. He created Hilton Magic and an exciting brand of basketball. His 93 team was really really good, they lost a lot of very close games in conference on the road but would blow out those same teams in Hilton. They lost to UCLA in the first round, Loren Meyer went 0-8, he missed at point blank range. He hits just a couple of those, they are moving on, He also made the finals in KC twice and one year we got completely screwed at the end of the game. Orr chased the officials off the floor.
Many racous crowds over the years, from The Armory on.

No, not really. WV actually made a lot of good, very contested shots.
- Tamin took 3 shots. Did WV dare him to shoot and sag off the entire game?
Tamin attempted one or two open good look 3s early in the 1st half, they didn't go in, and for the rest of the game he like a panicked deer in headlights every time he had space around the perimeter. Saying he was gun shy would be understatement. Nothing too terrible, just very freshman.
- We had a lot of fouls. How many fouls were committed by senselessly bodying or failing to concede on easy looks?
Shoon and Rob had a few glaringly unnecessary and lazy reach-ins during WV's late run to retake the lead. Those were costly with both teams in the bonus. There were also two really bad quick whistles on Tamin and Gabe when the ref was anticipating contact, but there was no contact at all. Our physicality on D actually felt cleaner than the rest of February has (barring the triple T fiasco for Jaz and Grill after the flagrant 2 on WV).
- Did we continue to waste the first 20 seconds of the shot clock by slowly getting the ball up court and proceeding to run our perimeter weave? I'm assuming that's a yes giving our shooting percentage.
Nah, at least not as bad as it has been the last 2 weeks. Offense had a bad stretch in the 1st half after jumping out to a good lead, but otherwise looked fairly competent and confident. It's not the end all, but TJ having scripted substitutions instead of feeling out the game has really killed momentum for us in many games.
