Has anyone looked up which Big 12 team has the easiest schedule this year?

Hopefully they call the game a little tighter than the WVU game or it could get interesting again. If they can just clog the lane and maul us it will be another slog for us if we can't hit some shots.
It was a unique nexus of those items you mentioned that led to the loss at West Virginia, which is hard to replicate. Few games will be THAT physical without more fouls being called. Seldom will we shoot 1 for 17 from 3Pt range which allowed them to pack the lane. I also can't remember the last time we had that many shots roll off the rim that could have just as easily gone down. My one concern coming out of the game is that in the past two games, albeit against good defenses, we have made some silly unforced turnovers.

Do it, Sig. Your Cyclones need you!

Ugh. I want to. So badly. Get that WVU game out of my head. But...

I'd have to leave about 5:00 PM.

My wife is sleeping off an overnight shift right now. She's not going to be in the mood to watch the little girl on her own all evening... she'll want to take the dogs out... she'll want me to make dinner... I want to try and sneak in a gym trip at some point... and it's really really really cold right now.

I don't know if I have the marriage points.

quick scout on UCF:

They are #68 in Ken Pom, / #74 in Torvik - upper 50s on Offense and around 100 on defense. Should be a game, hopefully, that the offense can get back on track.

They have a couple big wins - TAMU to start the season and @ TTU a couple weeks ago. They also played Houston really close on Saturday, losing by 1 (their best game score of the year). But they also lost by 51 at home to Kansas. Their 98 game score @ TTU to a 3 game score next game against Kansas has to be some kind of record.

Their leading scorer is junior #4 Keyshawn Hall - who played at UNLV for 1 year then George Mason 1 year before coming to UCF. He was a teammate of Keshon Gilbert at UNLV. He's 6'7" and 250#, but listed as leads them rebounding by a good margin and is second in assists. He's shooting 32% on threes, but takes many more twos - shooting 46% on two-point shots.

Their second leading scorer is senior #3 Darius Johnson - he's been at UCF for 4 years (unheard of!). He's averaging 15 pts, 4 assists, 3 turnovers and almost 3 steals a game - he's ahead of Lipsey in steals this year. In the game in Ames last year he went 0-7 from 3 and had 6 turnovers (and 4 steals). He's shooting over 41% from three this year.

The third guard is #0 Jordan Ivy-Curry, he's bounced around spending 2 years at UTSA, then to Pacific, then back to UTSA last year and now at UCF for his covid year. He averaged 17+ at UTSA last year and is around 14ppg this year. He's their most prolific three point shooter at 6.5 attempts per game, shooting 33% on the season. Very good FT shooter.

Their big is 7'2" freshman #52 Moustapha Thiam- he's averaging 8 & 5 in ~24 minutes a game. He's hit a handful of 3s in BigXII play and scored 18 in their loss to Houston last weekend.

Their leading scorer from last year, Jaylin Sellers, is out with a back injury. He's only played a couple games this year.

They have 3 other guys who average around 5 points a game and are between 6'6" and 6'8", but other than a big Lithuanian who only averages a couple minutes a game, they don't have a lot of size after Thiam.

Analytically - they shoot poorly on two-point shots as a team and give up a lot of offensive rebounds. They tend to give up a pretty high percentage shooting rate to opponents too. They've been playing better of late, 6 of their best offensive efficiency games have been in their last 8.

Their losses are all to top 20 teams ( Wisc, Kansas, Arizona, Houston) except a 3OT loss to LSU at a Thanksgiving tourney. So they are definitely a capable team, but one that we should beat easily. I think we struggle a bit more offensively, especially in the first half, but pull away in the second and win 76-61.

Has anything else been reported about Tamin's R hand that got injured late? He finished the game with tape on it but it was clearly bothering him. Appeared to be a thumb sprain?

Not only affects his shooting, but dribbling, passing, and ability/willingness to go after rebounds and loose balls. We need him healthy!

UCF is Jekyll and Hyde and I think the metrics have a hard time quantifying that.

They almost beat Houston in Houston, won on the road at TTU and beat a Texas A&M team.

Either they are weirdly good against schools from Texas, or they are a physical team with a very high ceiling and a very low floor.

I think if we can land some early haymakers and keep them at arms length we can cruise, but if they are still hanging around in the 2nd half this game will get tight down to end.

Small point of clarification. The Houston game was at home. Still, fair to say an up and down team.

Run a couple of things to get Heise a couple looks and try and get him on track the second he comes in. Then let the beatdown commence
Love it. And keep doing it, even if he misses a couple. Get that dude on track!
