It doesn't look like we have any consistent playmakers on this team. I don't see anyone being even second team big 12 if there isn't a noticeable improvement. We're small and full up on role players. We also don't pass the ball well enough to make it work.

You can win with ugly offense (heck, most CBB teams do), but you have to get to rim, get to the foul line, and get offensive boards. Bowie is really our only significant contributor that does any of those things. And he can't shoot FTs. Our guards just despise contact.

Ankeny, IA.
Monte is a ball control point guard. Plays it safe. He can't take over a game and if you're expecting him to you will be sorely disappointed.

It pains me to say, but the NBA narrative on Monte could quickly become 'Georges and DeAndre made him look better than he is.' Fair or not, I am starting to question his ability to get to the hoop

He's never been great at getting to the hoop. His strength is doing things behind the scenes while everyone else does their job.

Why he's still being forced into the roll of bull charging pick and roll player is a mystery.

Yeah there's a lot of college offenses that are ugly because there is a lot of poor shooting but I don't even know what we are trying to do? It's so much one on one action with guys standing around, lots of settling for bad shots. It's like watching a bad pick up game offense, try to go one on one, pass the ball when you can't and everyone else just stands around.

Here nor there
After 5 or 6 years, Jamie won't stand for that.
Right, CSP has all the off court stuff JP values above anything. Sigh.

I also don't think this is his mess, although he's doing an average job at cleaning it up. JP mistakenly viewed the hire to be all about continuity, but had he paid attention to the impact of Fred being halfway out the door for so long, he should have been looking for a "builder"

Well, I was about to melt down on Burton for giving them an extra possession but he got it back.

Nice look Monte.

Because we need somebody to force the action? If we just pass the ball around the perimeter all day, nothing is going to happen. We don't have the guy to collapse a defense like we have with Royce, Kane, and Niang. It's so much easier to attack a scrambling defense than it is a set defense, and we don't have the guy that can draw multiple defenders right now.
