another way to possibly generate some O might be running that press a bit more. of course, we need to convert if we get as many stops and takeaways on it as we did at the start of the second half tonight, but we definitely maximized our number of possessions in that little stretch.

Tech might be just as offensively challenged as ISU but you know what? They have their guys get to the rim and play for the offensive boards.

Give ISU those players and they can do the same thing.

It's night and day.

Overall, just an ugly game, out rebounded by 11, shot 31% from the field with 3 of 26 from behind the arc. Way too many quick shots that clanked on the rim that TCU then rebounded.

I was always taught then when your shots are not falling, you run the offense and try to get a lay-up or a close in shot, today we were just jacking up shots, figuring that they would start falling some time, and they never did.

We were outplayed all over the floor, TJ can use this film to show the team, how not to play. I am starting to wonder if teams are not figuring us out, we are not a good shooting team, if you pressure us, we are in trouble. Hope I am wrong, but this team has to figure it out. Do they want to win 3-5 conference games or 8-10 and get into the dance?

It's all up to the players.

It's also up to the coaches to adjust.

Otz is right, the defense was bad tonight, assuming they had identified the lapses from the game against Tech only to see them repeated tonight. But that didn't cost them the game. Opponents have learned that ISU's perimeter and high post based offense is easily neutralized if you just stay in front of them they will bail out to the long jumper. They need to adjust. Like two games ago.

I don't know what you've been watching but Jaz and Grill aren't giving you the bold

I actually think Jaz could someone that you can run the offense through in spurts. He’s skilled and can pass as well.

also, since Gabe is going to continue to be a key contributor, it might be good to run some stuff for him early in the game, and get him something going toward the rim.

we have made ourselves way too easy to guard the last two games.

The problem is that Jaz is scared to shoot unless he is wide open. If he has someone guarding he can't get rid of the ball fast enough.

I like that he's been willing to go 9/10-deep in the rotation and vary the combinations -- but the sequence has become predictable and, too often, it's stubborn, when a player is effective/in a groove and they go to the bench because of routine.

Yeah, it’s kind of like how in 2019, Lindell always came into the game for Tyrese at the 6 minute mark of each half.

I get habits, but the main criticism of TJ the first 5 years he’d been a head coach was that he struggled at making in game adjustments.

That’s in large part because of the offensive scheme. All the bigs are like that.

I know George is struggling, but it would have been good to see him post up on the block at least a couple times today.

jones made one move, he missed the layup, but he got to the rim.

I would understand this high post thing if we were clearing the lane for drives or cuts. Somehow we currently seem to just jack threes out of it and we don’t have our bigs in position to get the board

Why is no one talking about the fact that our “Bigs”. (GC, TE, RJ, and JK) had only 6 points and even worse a combined 7 rebounds! Does anyone else see the problem with that?

yes, this has been a recurring issue, getting very little from the bigs, conditt had zero boards today...and the previous games haven't been much better

Iowa State gave up 59 points. That's not horrible defense, and it's concerning if that's the head coach's main takeaway IMO.

his post game comments never leave me feeling that he understands what he just watched or what actually happened.

might be that's he's just not great with the press yet. But our prior staff had the same problem if you listened to them. Just makes me nervous. Prob just me worrying.

Doesn't George have a baby hook that's pretty effective? I thought I remember seeing him hit a couple of those earlier in the season.

The amount of close shots missed that weren’t altered was crazy today, and it’s not a one-game phenomenon. We’ve got guys apparently putting crazy weird spin on the ball, or we’re just the unluckiest team in college basketball. Focus on the fundamentals and put the ball in the hoop. That’s how you win the game.
A Wise Sage Once Said...THE TEAM THAT PUTS THE BALL THRU THE HOOP THE MOST ALWAYS WINS!
I think that sage is right...You can play all the defense you want but if you can't make the ball go thru the hoop...well now, you are doomed to failure!
TJ HAS TO RECRUIT BETTER SHOOTERS.
