Because we lay eggs like this. Got lucky to draw Miami first time through and played terribly: played terribly against Illinois last year. complete embarrassment tonight.

TJ getting completely out coached by Beard tonight.
It's always funny to me when fans attribute all success to luck and all failure to coaching. Guess we should fire TJ and hire Beard. TJ clearly isn't up to the task.

I shouldn't be surprised when fans have the emotional maturity of a toddler on a sports message board after a loss.

I’m trying to find the good in this and I think it will force TJ to reevaluate. Our seasons seem to follow the same bell curve. What needs to be done to be playing our best in March instead of January? We are accomplishing a lot of great things and we have a very stable program. But I’m over this ceiling and I hope TJ can figure out what’s needed for the next step.
As others have noted, the "next step" requires an upgrade at the "offensive coordinator" position, and rethinking the defensive approach. It's the same old thing...when ISU isn't athletically superior to its opponent, they just struggle.

It would’ve helped a little bit. The biggest thing that would’ve made a difference tonight was if Momcilovic could make a couple in the first half we would’ve been in the game before the last 2-3 minutes of the first. He disappeared after such a good round 1 performance. Jefferson also looked like he could’ve been the difference maker in the first five minutes then turned into a turnover machine that also can’t hit two free throws in a row. Everything went Mississippi’s way, and that scumbag of a human being Beard made adjustments perfectly while we didn’t.

And while Milan was ice cold they were hitting step back 3’s and layups while laying on the ground. That stretch was just brutal.

When our team has the talent it had, was it worth it having the grind of the Maui Invitational? We played more players there, but didn't during the rest of the season & that's when the injuries occurred & issues started to mount. To elevate the program you have to take those opportunities as the best players want to play the best. Having more talent & playing more looks to be the better way to go, but easier said than done? I know Otz prefers playing 7-8, so doubt that changes.

People remember conference championships too, especially regular season.

If I had to choose between a conference championship and flaming out in the first round in the NCAA tournament as a 2 or 3 or just winning at least 1 game in the NCAA tournament, I’ll pick the NCAA win every time.

It’s way worse for the program to flame out in the first round as a high seed. That gets brought up for decades.

I turned it off around the 10 minute mark. Did they miss one free throw?? I don’t want to look at the box score.

You’d pick a Lipscomb win over winning the Big 12 regular season? Interesting. Not me.

Correct. Insanity is the same outcome from "we are who we are" rigidity thing over and over.
The "Bell Curve" analogy with T.J./Staff is right on. This "marine boot camp" strategy for a long, long season is college b.b. is open to question.

Has the size, but question the competition in his videos
I doubt someone that is playing pro ball in Germany is coming over to play college basketball just to sit on the bench. He’s either going to start or be one of the first guys off the bench to start the season.

If our identity is still going to be an elite defensive team, not sure that starting lineup comes close. I like Heise off the bench. And I'm not sure what to think about Milan.
