I hope the ISU staff at least tries to get a waiver for JM to play right away next year. I'm sure there is a legit reason he chose to leave obviously. It could work. At worst we're back to the same expectation of him joining at 2nd semester.

Sorry I'm on my phone so I can't link it but Travis Hines updated his article on JM's commitment. He posted the link on Twitter and @CycloneInsiders replied asking if JM could get a full year next year. Hines replied, "ISU can apply for a waiver on a few different grounds. Who knows how the NCAA would rule it though." There have been some odd waivers accepted lately so I don't see why we wouldn't at least try. If he gets a full year next year, look out.

Here is his original recruitment/offer list from Yahoo/Rivals. How did Iowa not offer this guy? I mean, there are some pretty good basketball schools on that list and they all offered. But Iowa.......NO!!!! lol

Easy there, Melvin isn't easy to replace. And Melvin isn't done yet, losing Melvin is a huge blow, especially after he averages 20 and 10 this year.

I hear we are red shirting Melvin and going all in on 2014-15 being a championship team.

I know you're half joking but this will start to happen. We have a rep for being Transfer U and we've been and will be really close on some big time players that have chosen other schools but we're bound to pick up one or two that we've missed out of HS at some point

Oh, I agree. We missed out on McKay out of JC.

Now he is willing to PAY HIS OWN WAY for a semester just to sign with ISU. That is the best part.

We as a collective fan base ***** about our inherent disadvantages in recruiting... Here is a case where the #3 ranked JUCO player in the nation is willing to pay his own way to come here...

As Cydkar says, who cares, but since you asked, I'm assuming because he's not a skinny ginger.

Big 12 Championship is a real possibility next year. Kansas will have full roster turnover (will obviously get some talent back, but not Wiggins level), Oklahoma State will lose at least two of their three players, and Baylor loses Austin and Jefferson. Kansas State's recruiting sucks, Oklahoma will be in the mix, West Virginia and Texas have a long way to go, and TCU and Tech are TCU and Tech.

Wow next year will be good.
