My Risk strategy would be to quickly attack south and west of my position. But I have my sites on the NW part to the map. Need to build my army up!

Strike south. Divide and conquer.

Bunch of rookies here who have probably never won a game of risk in your life.

If you go west, you are exposing yourself to attacks from six different teams and if you go south it is only a small population gain.

Gotta go heavy at Purdue first and build from there.

Good kid and some talent. I would assume just tough to break ahead of the Brockington's, Kalcheurs and Kunc's of the world. In a pinch I guess you could do a Tim Floyd and put him in to foul their worst free throw shooter to save a possession or two.
