Totally agree there, unless were playing drake Lucca doesn't do much. Can't defend, can't create his own show, just not much more than a stand-up shooter

Which is fine if you have a point guard who can create, but DG isn't being guarded anymore because teams know he can't shoot. No tight guarding, no chance DG can blow by and mess up help defense.

Honestly, i wish mac would just change up the starting line-up. Why keep giving the guys who don't produce the start? Especially is it seems like guys are not hustling. Change something up...at this point we have to play like we have nothing to lose. A few more loses to MVC teams or blowouts tonight and we truly wont have anything to lose

Corey is averaging 16 a game this year for Valpo with 7 rebounds.

Yep. He had 17 against Butler, 16 against Michigan State. And he didn't even play last year and let's not think Valpo's coaches are better than ours (although who knows now?)

I NEVER understood why Gmac didn't play him much? he averaged under 9 minutes/game his last year at ISU. So stupid.

This also allows more bodies to be in the lane causing problems for Gil and CB. At least he didnt take 10 stupid shots tonight, so that is progress.

Just back from the game. Defense is a major issue. We either give up an easy bunny or a barely contested three look. Garrett could not stay in front of Randle.

People calling for for Dgs minutes need 2 get a clue about basketball. He is the one guard on are team that can dribble penetrate, and also score and without him on the floor we would struggle big time, he wasn't great tonight obviously but i would hate 2 watch us this season without him. Neither pgs we have are even close right now to him.

my basketball team... what happened to you guys? i mean i love the cyclones with ALL my heart. Come together you guys. This season is by no means over. You all can still achieve great things!!! CYCLONE POWER!!! please!!!!

i just feel like the chemistry isnt clicking.... i think maybe the team is not really seeing eye to eye and this just cannot happen. This team has the skills to be a top 25 team. we just need to find out who we are. blame coaching.... ehhhhhhh. blame the players.... more than likely. i really have no idea what is happening to my cyclones. it hurts really bad is all im 100% about. To see a team with so much potential and accomplish very little really does hurt. ive never seen an ISU team that is capable of being great achieve so little to this point in the season. I hope the guys can come together. we can be a sweet 16 team still i believe. but is is going to take some team bonding. I believe in Mac. i just want to believe in the players.

dg has played better, but he was not effective at all tonight. yes he runs fast, but he is not a threat to score whatsoever or make a pass for a uncontested shot. also, he dribbles around the screen only to back up to behind the perimeter again. he either needs to a) learn the elbow/freethrow pull up jump shot, or b) learn an effective tear drop. defensively, he also could not keep up with cal's guard. and that is a tough assignment; the second half team hedging was a lot more effective. I don't think that buck could guard him either, but colvin was quick enough. dg might be the overall better player, but coming from behind, we need guards who can create and he does not fit the bill.

i would like to see more christoph and buck and colvin. those three guys seem to do the best a keeping the ball moving and keeping everyone on offense involved. it has been hard to watch all the terrible contested shots that have been fired over the past few games. if the shot is contested it would be nice if the player was trying to draw a foul but that has not been the case.

I thought Christopherson has improved, not a top player on this team but he has rebounded somewhat from the NW game, he is definitely a contributor.

Colvin may not have had lots of turnovers last night and I called him a turnover machine, but everything he does right now just seems out of control, usually ending up with the ball in the other team's hands whether techniquely a turnover or not. He takes some bad shots and tries to make the amazing pass too much. This does not mean I don't like him or think he will be a great player, I just think he needs time to grow and Buckley should be getting some of his minutes.

My thought is I would love to see the Cyclones play Mizzou's style of basketball. "40 minutes of Hell" seems to work for them, and if we are half as deep as Mac thinks we are, then we can keep fresh bodies out there and keep the pressure up on our opponents. Plus, if running is our game, we would get plenty of opportunities to run.

Right now our offense is a joke and our defense is a step slow (not because we are slow but because our intensity isn't there). "40 Minutes of Hell" is a fun style to watch and creates intensity for the players, would really like to see the Clones employ the style or something close to it. Heck, just stary by throwing on a press of some sort, that hasn't happened in years, at least that would give MAC a reason to sub out as often as he does.

Actually, we've done some pressing this year, even against the gooder teams. We've been pretty good with it, so I would like to it more often.

Also, maybe Wes Johnson saw the questionable coaching of McDermott and said "dude, i can do better than this with a good coach."

Johnson sits out a full year after xferring from ISU, and comes out in Syracuse and what does he do? Look way better than he did with ISU. That's a sign he has a better coach. It's not like he played last year. All he did was practice with his team. It's hardly fully an experience thing. It would be a tiny bit different if he'd played last year and gotten tons more experience against a variety of defenses, offenses, etc

Wes Johnson might not have SAID it but I will guarantee you that he was THINKING that!!!!

Wesley Johnson's improvement onto a national stage just points out what good coaching can do...McDud's gotta go and for crying out loud pollard...this time hire a decent coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DG can dribble pentrate, but can't finish. DG is a poor free throw shooter, mediocre on defense and for a guy with his height can't rebound. Need a pg with some emotion and leadership.

I'll say it again: when people drive, give them a hard foul (going for the ball of course). No free layups!

You will never get that with any of the players on this team. We have recruited a bunch of softies.
