It also helped us that Kirk took a delay of game at 40 seconds instead of a timeout. That gave us 5 extra yards. So we started at the 22, not the 17. Which means our field goal would have been 59 yards. Mentally for Konrardy, that may have been a big difference.
Nah, their punter just didn't have the balls to try to pin us deep. Short legged it

Nah, it wasn't great but I want to find the play in the 2nd quarter when ISU started to 'find it'.

That's when it got just a little more interesting.
I thought the easy pass to Klotz was huge in the 3rd quarter. That should've been our first play of the game, but we started at our own 1 of course.

Rocco was clearly sped up and frustrated in the 1st half. Once he settled into the pocket and stopped staring down receivers, we looked more like the team we saw last year. Iowa is in our heads to start every game. Somehow we broke through that mental block.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me, given this list

I didn't see anyone else answer this, so I went and looked at these to see if this was the longest game winning field goal:

Longest FGs overall
1- OSU 93 W 20-17 (58 yds)
1- Missouri 93- loss
1- Oklahoma 79- loss
4- Nebraska 10- loss
5- UNI 23 W 30-9, not on game ender
6- UNI 88- W 20-17- Won on TD pass with 1 minute remaining.
6- Kent State 1982- W 44-7, no game-winning field goal
8- UNLV 2021- W 48-3. No game-winning fg
8- Iowa 2011- W 44-41 off a TD in 3OT
8- Kansas 98 W 23-20 (54 yds)

I've narrowed the alternate possibilities down to 2 games that I can't find more details on when the scoring happened.

@theshadow may be able to confirm the answer?

It was a joke they were ever in the preseason playoff conversation. Just more FakeID.
The whole rankings, this preseason then well into the first part of the season, were and are very biased toward the P2. If there are errors (and there are errors) it will take weeks to correct.

I think CBS did a segment on who would be in the playoffs if held before most of today's games. It had 5 teams from the SEC, 3 from the B1G, Notre Dame, and there was only room for 1 Big 12 team. Who would have guessed that!

I guess we just have to win more games. That's all it is. Sure. In reality we have to win more games because we start far back in the polls.

Yes, just win the games, even though the rankings are biased.

Eh. Iowa isn't all that great, but we can still claim them as a "good win". Conference wins are what we need given the unfair slanting of how playoff spots will be apportioned.

Not saying ISU will get there but there likely won't be any at large chances for a Big 12 team.
Exactly. All we have to do is get that one Big 12 team that makes the playoffs, to win all their playoff games. Simple.

One Big 12 team has to win all playoff games vs. about 8 SEC and B1G teams who get 8 more chances at it, and the associated money. Simple. And seems fair to me.

I was disappointed they put Hansen in there & he carried twice, then the drive stalled. Jackson was the hot hand then.
yeah, I didn't understand that. And running him to the wide side of the field, he doesn't seem to have the speed or shake to make that type of play happen. We had a lot of momentum and those two play calls killed it. I feel they didn't used Jackson enough after this drive.

Doing some further research:

We won in 93 vs OSU on a TD with about 5 minutes remaining.
The 54 yard kick against Kansas was in the first half.

So if what i've found is correct this was indeed the longest game-winning FG ever for Iowa State.
