uh...... I'm not sure if that was sarcasm so forgive me............ but such a place does not exist.

Next time Alabama loses... check out their message boards. Check out the heat Dabo has gotten at times this season. Campbell knows this.

Again, if that was sarcasm, my bad for not recognizing.

I think he knows this. But I also think he knows how hard it is to win consistently at a place like Iowa State. It's not too much to hope our fans know that too.

Yes that was sarcasm. It's unfathomable to me that people think Campbell is so pillow-soft that tepid criticism of something that is a clear and obvious problem would chase him away.

I really think there is a chemistry issue with this team. I do not understand how you can play so well (OK State, Texas) then be so bad (WVU, TTU), something just seems off with this group.

Heres the thing. The same team that played balls out tough and beat OSU, is the one that flipped "threatening to score and take the lead before half" into "penalty, 3rd and long, instant qb pressure scramble, fumble for defensive score and they get the ball to start 2nd half".

Thats the margins kids. One or 2 plays make the difference.

I am guessing Bears LOL

I say let's get the rumor train started. ;)

I can guarantee that this most disappointing season in Iowa State history does not make him any less desirable in almost all NFL and college jobs.

It is... but in fairness to our fans - I think many of them - myself included - really thought that this might finally be the year. I never realistically thought we were going to the playoffs but I thought that maybe, just maybe, we might finally win that conference football title or at least go back to the title game and hopefully beat Iowa.

Because I'm well aware that its unlikely going to be a year in and year out thing where we compete for league titles... so I guess my question that leads to depression is - if not this team... who? We have arguably a better collection of talent than we've ever had. It almost at times now feels like we may never actually win a league title.

I still have faith. I still think next year might not be as bad as some think despite everyone we lose. But that question does linger longer than I want in my brain....

if not this team... then who? That's where my disappointment is. Heading into the season it seemed like for once the stars aligned where we had a real chance at being league champions in football - and obviously we know the rest.

I don't know what people want from Purdy. I can't imagine what kind of numbers he would have if he had better coaching at the online and better play calling. I guess next year we will see if Purdy was the problem or did he cover for a lot of coaching problems.

to be fair, I never thought purdy was super amazing, but he was what this team needed at the time years ago—he could extend plays with his legs and run and toss up 50/50 balls to butler. Sadly I didn’t think we’d still be needing (and not properly utilizing) those traits in year 4 due to a still horrific o line and abysmal receiving depth.

he’s still a good qb but just not quite good enough to overcome manning and the o line. Maybe if he didn’t have to run for his life so much he wouldn’t make weird mistakes, but at some point you are what your record says you are. He’s just an above average qb.

people can dumb this all they want but I think the record this year with the same players is pretty strong evidence.

Need to beat TCU and make a good showing in the bowl...hopefully that will hold the recruiting poachers at bay with respect to the 2022 class.
Need to have a fantastic atmosphere for the graduating/leaving players at their last home game ever to celebrate their careers & the best stretch of football in ISU history. The season's results are below expectations, but win & continue our home winning streak & get into a bowl & take care of business there for an 8-5 year. Those coming back will be as hungry as ever & want to continue &, better yet, improve on the direction & performance of the program.

On top of this, I will be wasted for TCU, which is really cool.

Purdy never played with Lazard. I’ve seen some other posters say this too. His freshman year was Lazard’s rookie year in the NFL.

It does but there's even margins within the margins. And what I mean by that is there's another 8-12 plays that set up those plays generally. A missed block, a missed tackle, a dropped pass, an over-throw, a shanked punt, etc.

Yup, they are a victim of their own success in a lot of ways. They are responsible for the raised expectations that have everyone not happy with a "season like this". It's been a bummer of year but 10 years ago, I'd have been thrilled with a 7 or 8 win season.
We aren’t there yet

As a lifelong Cyclone fan it sucks to see the team lose actually in the margins. This season it just seemed that all of the bounces went the other team’s way. The Scates call made me think for a moment that this might be our day… but that didn’t last long.
