I like this team. KJ has done wonders in only a few months. There is fire and aggresive wrestling going on. Iowa will be Iowa all year, ISU will keep getting better.

I agree. I saw a lot of good things that I didn't see under Cael, and they will only improve. KJ is one of the best in the business and it is already showing. I am stoked for the national tourney already, let's just hope everyone stays healthy.

There is still some room for improvement from our lower weights, but we'll get there.

What I saw from this match was that we were more agressive than in the past in the first period. Our lower weights still need some work, but you can tell the difference that Jackson in making in the upper weights. Reader finally beat Moningstar, Burk hung in there with Borschel, and Ward's big win. Varner and Z basically wrestled guys whose strategy was to avoid a pin, and if lucky, catch our guys being too aggressive. KJ just needs to keep working it, as I am sure the Brands boys didn't care for how close this ended up.

What's going to kill us this year are the lightweights. We're strong there, but nowhere close to being dominant. That needs to get fixed

how disgusting does it feel to say that if we still had cyler, we win that dual easily. wow. hopefully gallick and fanny get healthy and can wrestle a little better come midlands and nat'l duals. didn't see long wrestle-what the hell happened there?

I was thinking that same thing. Cyler is on the team = ISU wins.

True, but if Cyler is on the team, Cael is still the coach, which equals another ISU loss I'm afraid. Not sure Ward would've looked as good as he does if he was under Cael's regime. He looked like a whole new guy!

The one thing I would like KJ to do is get Z going earlier. He wins a lot and gets us a lot of points but I wonder about his intensity early in the matches. If he does that to wear them down then I am good with it but it looks like if he goes after it int he first like he does in SV he might rack up some more points.

For us being a little beat up, I thought that was a pretty good meet. Too bad Zabrinski couldn't have made more noise. The Metcalf pin was huge.

Not necessarily. I think Cyler should have given KJ a shot before deciding to transfer, but he didn't.

the metcalf pin WAS huge. Mueller should have never let up like he did. he was looking for a bail out call and it cost him and the team. i think metcalf would have tfalled him in the 3rd anyway, but you never know and you never let your guard down even for a second-especially against arguably the best collegiate wrestler this year.

Heavyweights hardly ever make "noise" as a pin, TFall, or Major. The wins are generally between 1-4 points.

How often has Z scored bonus points for us in the past? If tonight is indicative of his usual output, that could hurt us down the stretch.
