Passed the defense. DONE FOREVER!!

You can now call me ISUAgronomist, Ph.D.*

*Pending Thesis Office clearance and actual graduation

hehehehe, Thesis Office clearance. That's a fun part. Do they give you a sheet of guidelines in advance for the trivial stuff, like spaces on your table of contents, or just wing it so they can send it back for that?

They have a manual but changed policies last semester. The thesis office no longer reads the entire paper. They look at the abstract and then skim the first few pages for tendencies. They basically say it's the committee's job to make sure it's in good shape. There's no "standard" format. No longer have to submit an example journal article to support your chosen style either.

I'm sure some bad papers are making their way through the system with the new policy.

Good call. I'm sure they did before, since that office wouldn't be filled with real experts. They're really qualified only for general stuff.

At ISU, they drive history students crazy. I think I revised my TOC twice. That's all the reviewers over there know, so they milk as much as they can. I'm a big fan.

One more tomorrow for Pyschometric Measurement (go ahead and laugh, engineering NERDS) at 9:45 am. Then hopefully meeting with a Professor to go over a real bad exam score and hopefully gain some extra points for it. Then relaxing and trying to get over this sinus/cold junk I've been dealing with all week. Done forever! Unless I decide in a couple years to explore a grad program for Forensic Psychology. Yay....

I'm going into industry. Money and perks are better but trade off with potential long-term stability (no tenure). Big grant money is hard to come by in my specific field so earning tenure as a Prof would be difficult right now for a n00b.

Hows that class? I'm taking it next semester with Bootsma

Does Larry Curtis still teach it? If so, switch to Curtis. You can thank me in the form of rep at the end of the semester.
