The 1997-98 class included:

Fizer (made it)
Lee Love (made it)
C.J. Bruton (never made it)
Jerry Curry (made it)
Gerrod Henderson (never made it)
Chris Ridens (never made it)
Walter Moore (not sure)
Martin Rancik (made it)

In later years, you can add Dewayne Johns and Travis Spivey to the list.
Both Riddens and Moore made it to campus

Back then one could really only follow recruiting through the print media (although some were on the FansOnly website iirc). So even recruits like Ridens and Moore sounded like great pickups

Good catch. I remember Bruton and Henderson being the 'stars' of that class outside of McDonald's AA Fizer, of course. The loss of Bruton was a killer as the kid had major talent.

Henderson was a big loss too. He was one of the most impressive guards at the “Big 22” at Hilton in which Big 12 and Big 10 recruits played

I was there and still have the t-shirt! Bobby Knight in the house if I remember correctly.

Maybe I'm off base, but the speculation is that the staff will be looking to add a SG in the off season unless Jones gets a waiver for another year. With Batemon, Toure, and Moore all being good guard prospects, is there any chance the staff rolls the dice on one of them being able to play right away instead?

Just my opinion but I wouldn’t. Four seniors and Milan. Get the right two transfers sg and c and we are in the same position we are this year. Give the young guys a year to figure it out. Allows TJ time to figure out which will be contributors

I would expect the staff to target a SG in the portal depending on CuJo's appeal for another year. Neve have enough experienced guards, plus Tamin is a dog but we know his injury history. Would be best to have a second ball handling option to keep his minutes reasonable.

That said TJ has shown he's willing to start a freshman (Lipsey, Milian) out of HS. A lot of the strategy may depend on how Nojus is developing this year. Ideally he's ready to step into the SG role and Bateman Toure can learn in a reserve role.

I think a transfer pg/combo is a possibility. I hope Nojus is ready for a major role next season.
Related, don't forget that Watson can return. I know some will disagree, but I could see a bigger role for him next year. Baylor and Houston seem to always have athletic older guys off the bench.

Another thing to consider is next year could be the first year that the scholarship limit goes up with roster limit. That will add two extra scholarships from 13 to 15. Getting a junior SG that can also play point from time to time I think will be a must.

Plus if Hiese’s shooting doesn’t come around his minutes are vulnerable. Without Gilbert and Jones we can’t afford to not get solid production from the two and three ( when we play small)

If we have Pleta I’m wondering if we still pursue a center in the portal. Jefferson can play the five minutes when Jackson sits plus Rock will be a nother year in. Milan and Pleta at the four with Jefferson. If true we just got uber versatile.

I know we have been recruiting him. Not sure if he committed but if someone says he did then I don't suspect they are making it up. This could be a huge pickup for us.
I wonder where that ranks our 2025 recruiting class...I think it was already top 10.

How good is he? How old is he?

Nevermind. I see the breaking news thread
