Honestly I hope Watson returns. Hopefully he can push Mitchell for minutes at the three when Milan sits. Also hoping if Watson doesn’t take a leap forward offensively Mitchell turns out to be the better option. Regardless Watson can give us solid minutes. Basically an acceptable option that won’t hurt us.

At 3:15 today you can live stream Jamarion Batemon play in his semifinal game.
Thanks for posting the link.

Ended up watching the game. Batemon made a 20'+ three with a couple minutes left to put his team up by 2 and they held on to win the game.

He guarded the opposing teams top scorer and did a solid job. Looks like a nice HS player.

Tough ending for Mitchell and Oshkosh North.
That it was. They made a game out of it in the 2nd half and had a nice shot to win.

It'll be interesting to see how our coaches develop Xzavion. He's not gonna have to average 35 ppg in college and he won't be able to take a break on defense and rely on his length and athleticism to bail him out. The skills are definitely there though. Especially for a bigger kid.

What position is he in college? Aka, what position does he defend?

It would help immensely if he could develop his outside shot, so he could play on the wing.

He really fits with the upside lottery that freshman recruiting has become. You can’t teach his scoring mindset and skills. Tenable size/athleticism. If he ends up expanding his game to the perimeter, you end up with an impactful 3 level scorer at 6’6”

I would say the 3rd guard or small forward position

He's not a 1 on offense and a 5 on defense like he plays now. He can be a match up problem on the offensive side. Put a smaller guy on him and he's gonna shoot over the top of them. Put a bigger guy on him and his ball handling/quickness for a bigger guy might be too much for some.

Right now on defense, he would need to gaurd the non threat slower guy that Milan guards. The kid has more quickness and way more athleticism than Milan but I don't think he's ever been coached to play tough defense before or a complex defense the way he looks out there. He really trys to conserve energy on defense because he's asked to do so much on offense. Fewer minutes a game should really help him on both ends.

After watching both Xzavion and Batemon. Batemon's team really plays with a nice defensive scheme. I bet Batemon is really gonna be a special player at ISU right from the get go.

I agree

But that’s also the question. If he’s an average wing defender, it means he’s playing with two bigs, if TJ’s first 4 seasons hold true

That’s a congested offense blockading the paint if his perimeter shooting doesn’t improve, or one of the posts can stretch.

Intriguing prospect. Could be a mismatch. Could be a tweener

Mitchell reminds me a little of a taller version of Horton-Tucker.
