Andrew Keller Iowa state tight end commit on the other team.Definitely a good athlete, but his defensive intensity will need to improve significantly to see the floor under Otz.

He’s more in control of his athleticism than Grill. He’s also longer and looks like he’s grown a little. In the 2020 year he had 46 total dunks. He also holds multiple D1 offers at WR including Notre Dame and had almost 1000 yards and 21 TDs.Anyone know how King’s athleticism compares to Grill’s?
Didn’t see you posted this but we posted almost the same thing lol“Eli thrives in open-court basketball,” Otzelberger said. “Defensively, his instincts and anticipation will create turnovers. Offensively, he’s a gifted playmaker that makes the right play and can finish with authority. His toughness and competitiveness will be welcomed additions.”
I think he's a little more polished than Grill in terms of ball handling and playmaking. More of a bulldog than Grill, but maybe not as good of a leaper. Grill has bounce but we don't get to see it a lot.
My guess is when GB is done Grill and King will share the 2 and the hotter/ more consistent 3P shooter will get the bulk of the minutes.“Eli thrives in open-court basketball,” Otzelberger said. “Defensively, his instincts and anticipation will create turnovers. Grill and King were, and are, elite high school level athletes, but average athletes for high major college basketball. Their college success will depend on things other than being more athletic than their opponents. He’s more in control of his athleticism than Grill. Totally disagree, King has football offers from Notre Dame to play wr. That's Elite college athlete.Grill and King were, and are, elite high school level athletes, but average athletes for high major college basketball. Agree. Notre Dame doesn't offer average level athletes football scholarships. ND wanted King as a WR.I disagree on King. King is an elite level athlete. That is party of his deal. Watch his videos.
Grill has arguably the 2nd highest vertical on the team. He might look a little goofy but he can really get up there.I disagree on King. King is an elite level athlete. That is party of his deal. Watch his videos.
That's just not true. Caleb was not ready to see serious minutes vs Big 12 competition in year 1. Even this year has looked overmatched at times, but is a solid contributor on a Big 12 team now due to maturation and development. It's as simple as that.Eli King's is comp is similar to Grill, with a better ability to drive and finish. Prohm ruined Caleb in year 1, so fans shouldn't factor that into their opinion of Caleb
Grill has arguably the 2nd highest vertical on the team. He might look a little goofy but he can really get up there.
Getting an offer to play WR doesn’t mean he’s an elite athlete for a D1 WR, let alone mean an elite D1 basketball athlete. ND has WRs on their current roster that no one would say are elite athletes for WR at this level. MTotally disagree, King has football offers from Notre Dame to play wr. That's Elite college athlete.
So what do elite college athletes slide down from in High School?Getting an offer to play WR doesn’t mean he’s an elite athlete for a D1 WR, let alone mean an elite D1 basketball athlete. ND has WRs on their current roster that no one would say are elite athletes for WR at this level. M
King is an elite athlete for high school, which will slide down to “good” level in the Big 12. Like Grill, his skills will need to develop, as having success via just being a superior (elite) athlete won’t work well in the Big 12. No reason to think they won’t once he focuses on basketball like players do at this level
They don’t. That’s why they’re elite college athletes. So what do elite college athletes slide down from in High School?
Just trying to understand your logic, would a 7 ft high jumper qualify as an elite college athlete? They don’t. That’s why they’re elite college athletes.
You think all athletes that are elite for the high school level, are elite in college?
Isn't Watson almost 6' 8" right now? with a 7'1" wingspan.Anybody else concerned with size becoming a factor next year? We are already a short team 1-3, but we are adding two 6'3'' guards and a 6'6'' wing who seems to project more as a stretch 4. I know Tre King will arrive but at a generous 6'8'' is he expected to man the 5? It just seems like we are gonna be primed to get pushed around and scored on in the paint a lot.
