Am I seriously the only one that noticed the eagle at the end of this post? This has to mean something considering Marquette is one of his finalists, and their mascot is a golden eagle.
I noticed this and thought it could be the high school mascot. Nope, looks like that's a panther.

I think the staff has been decent on recruiting HS big men not so on transfers. Other than Jacobson and Bowie(not sure why he wasn't listed) the transfers haven't been great. The only 2 HS guys that haven't worked out were Carter and Ernst. Ernst was a TJ/Fred guy that signed a couple weeks after CSP took the job. If I remember correctly his name came up right before Fred announced he was leaving.

I think it has more to do with there being way more good guards out there than big men. There just aren't that many truly good big men to go around.

He seems to use that emoji a lot on his social media. I wouldn't read too much into that.

Is it possible to develop a motor? Seems like you either have it, or you don't.

Woodbury never became the star that his recruiting rankings would have suggested, but he was still a solid 4 year player for Iowa.
Watch his 14 minute highlight tape on youtube. He definitely works his butt off. I know it's against high school players, but he was flying around the court and blocking shots the entire time. He also was consistently sprinting down the court on fast breaks for easy dunks. It'll take a bit of time to mold him into a true D1 player, but all of the intangibles are there and he could honestly be an instant play maker if he puts in the work.

Hopefully Grant-Foster waits until spring.

A class of any of the four of Walker, Blackwell, Foster, Grant-Foster, and Walton would be in the discussion of our best class of high school talent imo.

I want to see what he can do this year being alone at Osky

Last year he had cole Henry so his ppg numbers being low were acceptable but he still had amazing rbs and blocks

If this kid really is a top 50 talent there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to drag Oskaloosa to the tournament like Weiskamp did at Muscstine a couple years ago

ISU will land
Hot take though, i don’t think he’s that good. Adam Woodbury 2.0
Hope I’m wrong

Interesting, it would be a bit disappointing if that is the level Foster completes his career at considering some of the hype XF has had coming into this year.
Woodbury was a starter for 4 years and was worth his scholarship (assuming XF avoids eye poking incidents). Add in the fact the staff has prioritized XF for a few years now and the meltdown EIU will have if Foster announces for ISU it is well worth it.

X Foster is more of a Top 75 type guy than a Top 25 sure one and done like many thought a couple years ago. No doubt though he's got an extremely high ceiling with his length and ball skills.

I think it would be an ideal situation in his first year to have experienced bigs around him in 3rd year Conditt and 5th year senior Solomon.

Here's Jerry Meyer's scouting report:

"Body continues to fill out. Quite skilled for a 7-footer. Still more of a finesse-type big man. More about skill than power. More a mobile athlete than explosive athlete. Has good touch and can stretch the defense to beyond the three-point line. Comfortable handling and passing the ball. Guarding ball screens could be a bit of an issue, but he should protect the rim well, and then provide both a roll man and a pick and pop guy on offense. Will block shots but has room to become more of a factor on defense. He needs to get stronger and develop a back to the basket game, but has significant ability on both ends of the floor. Should hear his name called in the second round of the NBA draft."

I would be surprised if national guys knew Foster's gf goes to Iowa State. Probably a decent factor in him coming here.

Respect your opinion but couldnt disagree more. Not certain where the Adam Woodbury comparison is even coming from. Other than both being 7 footers their game is not comparable whatsoever. Foster is so much more athletic and fluid. That athleticism will allow him to protect the rim at a far higher clip and also run the floor. Agree that I'd love to see him develop a mean streak he is maybe lacking currently. That could very well come with time/maturity/coaching. At the end of the day athletic 7 footers dont grow on trees hed be a huge recruit.

while I understand and mostly agree with what you’re saying here, weiskamp was not reliant on anyone else to get him the ball like Foster is.

a 6’6 2 is going to be able to get to the ball at anytime in the offensive set.

raef lafrentz had good players around him, for that level. They made the substate game the next year with the same guys minus him. Foster doesn’t have that.

he never sniffed a championship in high school. Got 4th one year, lost to Bill Marsau’s Hudson team in the consolation game.

Foster also shoots the ball fairly well and has pretty good handles for his height, which is the polar opposite of Woodbury.

I'm assuming he meant an overhyped 7 footer and not actually comparing their skill sets
