I don't know what Wigginton's support situation is, but in many ways, having a full ride at a school like Iowa State is a better life than the G League. G League guys get paid squat to play in front of 20 people. Sure, you're around other good players, but they're all in competition with each other. I know what I would do, but Wigginton seems to want to go pro no matter what. The G League is a graveyard more often than not.

Clearly it’s not a message board thing. Nearly every player cares about the first round and so far are willing to pass up money in the short-term and instead try to use college basketball to improve their draft prospects.

But Wigginton will be 21 this draft. He may recognize it’s time to be pragmatic and that it’s time to move on from the first round dream.

One wants the best for you on and off the court (Cam Lard's situtation. The other yells at you right in front of your family (Jordan McCabe in Ames this year).

I think he's athletic enough to maybe pull down a 2 way contract. That is a lot more reasonable money. Also, there are a LOT of NBA players now that have spent time in the G League.

That said, I hope he's back. I do think a full healthy year for him would be great and a much better springboard to the league.

The NBA has evolved into more of a skills league than an athlete league. Lindell has one good skill and a lot of his stock rests in it: the three-ball. There's no arguing the value that skill brings in today's NBA that moves away from the midrange game.

The issue is, the other part of that "only threes or paint shots" paradigm is value in skill in the short game. In his two college seasons, he's shot 34-78 (43.6%) and 102-241 (42.3%) on twos. The majority of his two point attempts are in the paint. That's damning stuff for a guy that's already short, doesn't have point guard skills, and is a liability on defense.

He'd be a second round pick at this point; with that, there's really no point in entering the draft. He's not a first round pick and will not be regardless of his combine results. He SHOULD stay, but no matter it doesn't sound like he will.

The Athletic did an article asking anonymous coaches about intriguing prospects, and if they should stay or leave early.

THT was included in the list, and let's just say all 4 coaches, in different ways, said that he should not leave early.

I hope he doesn't leave early. I really think he could be one of the best college players n the country next year.

The older you get, the more likely it is just one shot.
Getting to the NBA is more of an iterative process than it once was. If you’re past your expiration date in regards to the draft, you might as well start that sooner than later. Persistence and patience can pay off, if you start early enough.

This. I’ll be shocked if lard is back at ISU in 2019-20 but i don’t think his departure means ISU will be adding any more big men if everyone else returns.
