SIAP, but rebroadcast overnight tonight on ESPNU from 2a-5a CT if you missed recording it on Saturday.

Thanks so much. Was at game and since they started game on ESPN2 due to WVa/Okie State, didn't have first part of game on DVR. Watched it on WatchESPN but that is crap.

Great play by Spears.....Does it look like Lanning was slow / late to move into the passing lane, or was he in position and Spears closed in time?? Not to be picky, just wondering how LB's ares supposed to drop back into coverage.

I know nothing about what they are supposed to do, but it looked to me that Spears could freely jump the route because Lanning was there to tackle if he whiffed.

If @tolfbfan wants to write a few million words about the process, I'm ready to read them.
The process is good stuff.
1. Recruit better players
2. Coach your asses off
3. Players reciprocate on their own time, in practices, & in games
4. Play fundamental, sound in all 3 phases
5. Stick to the team's plans & strategies (don't deviate)
6. Win games & improve as the season progresses
7. Fans get to 'bro out" (& equivalent for those non-bro)
8. Dilly Dilly

There. Not too long. Apologize in advance for not knowing a more universal term for bro'ing out. Also, it was my 1st & last time using, "Dilly Dilly"
cheers

So as long as we win out and OSU wins Bedlam, we'll be the only Big 12 team on the map.

Spears sat on his zone which basically made the decision easy for Hill. Hill makes the correct read but too slow. Spears reads the QB's eyes and jumps the route. Hill has already committed and it's too late. He probably knew it was getting picked before it left his hand.

It could be true that Heacock gives them more freedom in that drop 8 look, because of proximity to other defenders to assist in the tackle.

Good notes BWR. In your opinion, did Lanning execute correctly - is he in correct position?
I'm just wondering, with a novice understanding, it seems the receiver found the open spot in our zone, but should Lanning have moved more to his right to cover the receiver, wasn't that his man? Instead he seemed to drop back and stayed put - or is that because he was in his correct position in the zone?

*** I just watched again - forget what I asked. It does look like the QB was late and locked on the receiver. Lanning had good coverage - obviously Spears did too.

He probably needed to shift with the QB's eyes, unless coached otherwise. He was most likely a spy, because Hill can beat you with his legs if he wants to. Either way, in that max zone coverage you want your guys to settle into their zone. Lanning probably didn't want to get beat on a dump off route, but I need to go back and watch it again to be sure anyone was even there.

Yeah, take a look from the end-zone angle and you can see the play develop with Lanning and Spears in their positions. The receiver makes a good read, but Hill just blew it - should have been an easy completion.

Guessing Lanning was trying to keep everything in front of him. Spears made a good read. If Hill make the completion, Lanning is there to stop it immediately for a relatively short gain for a team needing a TD.

I can’t recall who, but it looked like we had a spy other than Lanning. One thing I thought after viewing the footage from behind Hill is that if the right side defense end maintains the edge a little better he’d be in that passing lane, thus effectively covering up the gap between Lanning and Spears. Perhaps Lanning was counting on that.

I originally thought Hill threw the pass because his vision was blocked, but I think he saw it coming now that I watch it again.
