Sorry for saying your son had a bad game Mrs Heise.

But as someone who is an expert, which one of those guys (Gilbert or Heise) would you have wanted with the ball in their hands at the end of the game today? Guys have bad games offensively. It happens. You don’t have to white knight for these guys.
Heise was +3 and Jefferson -10. Obviously not a perfect metric, however it doesn’t scream terrible within a team framework.

He needs to find a way to knock down those open shots though. We can't have 1 guy out there airballing stuff with the game on the line. His shooting has been very poor this year. If he shoots anything besides an easy layup I have zero confidence it's going in.
Agree would be great if he starts to make those 3s as he's getting wide open shots sometimes. That said he's rebounding hard, playing good defense, and moves the ball and himself without the ball. So having a positive impact off the bench

Hey everyone Heise was playing at UNI last year. That environment today will be one of the toughest we will play in all year. He will get more comfortable on offense and he always busts his ass on defense and rebounding. Also when you are always guarding the opposing teams best player you will give up some points sometimes

Bet he can spell "because" though.
LOL! I had to read both posts twice! I have dyslexia and will often swap letters in words that have dipthongs. Words like "because," "people," etc. I have to read them letter by letter to make sure I read them right.

Agree. The fact that he's usually in at the end of games is all you need to know about what the staff thinks of his play and dependability.

Better shooting games from Heise ahead. For anyone who ever played higher level basketball as a "role" player, you know how hard it is to hit a jumper when you are only asked to take one or two a game. It is hard! He isnt a volume shooter. All I ask is that the guy busts his ass on the defensive end of the floor and on the boards. He will hit some big jumpers as the season progresses, that I promise.

The metric that I look to is that TJ plays him.

Is TJ perfect, nope but a **** of a lot closer to it than anyone on this board and 99% of CBB coaches right now.

I think he has a pretty good handle on the rotation that works and Heise is a key part of it.

Sure did. If you think just pointing out stats is a good way to judge how a guy played in a game, I don’t know what to tell you.
You are judging him for an air ball and getting scored on by a solid player hanging in air for an elite amount of time to get off a line drive shot that happened to find the bottom of the net.

Looking past his stats, which were value added, how about the fact that he started overtime instead of our regular starter and then played every second until fouling out? But you must know more than the men in the room being paid six and seven figures who just helped guide a team to a 13-point comeback on the road

I thought you said you played, you do understand five guys are on the floor and each one has their own role right?
Tonight, I would have wanted neither of them with the ball in their hands, but I would have wanted them on floor. Both of which is exactly what TJ did too.
And we won. Only on CF would there be this much crapping on one player following a win that doesn't happen if he's on the bench

You are judging him for an air all and getting scored on by an elite player hanging in air for an elite amount of time to get off a line drive shot that happened to find the bottom of the net.

You are misinterpreting my observations of the game with me wanting or calling for changes to rotations.

Observation - Heise and Gilbert struggled offensively today, relatively speaking, when they had their opportunities. Heise had a rough end to his night in OT. Overall their defense was on par with the rest of the season. I don’t really know how that’s debatable, but I’d love to hear counterpoints.

I think Nate has been an outstanding addition to the team and that Gilbert is still arguably the best player on that team. Just because I don’t like how they played for some of the game today doesn’t mean I think their roles need to change.
