that's what the person behind me said. i can't personally confirm, but that's by far the most students i've ever seen at a Hawk game so it made sense. they haven't even had 8k at any of their games yet this season until tonight.

EDIT: to clarify, i heard they were giving away tickets to students to fill the student section(s), not to sit just anywhere. as a corollary, it's very common for 1-2 games over break to be free for UI faculty and staff though -- that's the only other time I ever bring the family to Carver. i don't know if ISU ever does that sort of thing.
My friend currently in med school at Iowa told me they were doing this

I think we did see TJs conference rotation tonight. Nojus probably doesn't quite make the cut, but I'm excited for that guys future and he can probably still earn some minutes later if he keeps working hard.

How lucky are we at guard. We have 3 of the best guards in the country and then we have a mid major all conference player coming in as our #4. That's ridiculous.

Nojus is going to be a really good player. Reminds me of a young Matty Ice Thomas. Maybe even more aggressive getting to the Hoop than Matt was in his early years here.

I spent too much time looking at this - but I've determined that the start to the season, with 9 straight 80+ pt games is:

- the first time ISU has ever started the season with 9 straight games > 80
- the second time ISU has ever had 9 straight games with > 80 pts (the other being '87-'88 with Grayer and Lafester)
- If we score > 80 against Omaha it will be the first time in school history we have 10 straight games with 80+

It's weird to think of it after the last couple years - but this may very well be the best offensive basketball team in Iowa State history. KenPom has us as the #3 offense - I don't think any of the Hoiberg years reached that high.

We've seen it in a couple tight games now - down the stretch it's : Tamin - Keshon - Curtis - Heise - Jefferson

Unless the other team has two bigs, it's Jefferson who gets crunch time minutes at the '5'. And TJ would rather have Heise's defense over Milan's offense at this point.
