Testifying
Pitchers batting is dumb. I welcome our DH overlords.

This just feels like the type of game that the good guys blow every scoring chance they get (happening all game) and the Cards will score the first time they get a runner in scoring position with 2 outs

Why Maddon went with Bass in that situation I don't get the logic. Would have rather seen if Quintana could pitch himself out of it at 86 pitches than bring in a guy that isn't that reliable and has given up hits in all 3 of his appearances so far. Even Duensing and Wilson are not bad against righties and Farrell who is warming up now is available too. I get it, save the guys that can go multiple innings but in a 0-0 game you bring in a guy with the best chance of getting outs and Bass is the 1st guy going back to Iowa in the bullpen right now. Hope Edwards gets healthy soon, that would have been his spot there if he was available.

Meh... he stopped being much ot a pitcher after he hit his first home run. And don’t get me started on the stupidity of the coaching staff for allowing him to switch hit.
I know that he was volatile, but this is just silly. The guy hit his first two home runs in 2003 and was an All Star in 04, 06 and 08; finished fifth in Cy Young voting in 04, 06 and 07; and threw a no hitter in 08.

I was being a bit hyperbolic but clearly at a certain point Z was more interested in hitting than pitching.
