The last one, Jamahl Johnson DT from Minnesota had 62 tackles 18 TFL last year. Those are crazy numbers coming from a DT, more like LB numbers!

CPR put his heart and soul into Isu...thank him for that....but this is now the CMC era and it has started with a top 50 class that not many thought was possible in December. And the reason u keep most of staff together from Toledo and guys CMC knew from before? Well this is why...hit ground running.

Ok guys it really is time to drink the kool aid.... We're watching ISU history right now.....

2015 - 71
2014 - 52
2013 - 65
2012 - 76
2011 - 69
2010 - 73
2009 - 80
2008 - 57
2007 - 69
2006 - 59

This class will more then likely be the best recruiting class in ISU history.....Thats something to build on!!!! Say what you want about developing players - but, talent is talent.... Great Job to these coaches - and i was worried they couldn't recruit - boy was i sadly mistaken!!!!

Uh, Iowa State has had football prior to 2006. Drink the Kool Aid if you like, I'm enjoying a refreshing glass at this moment, but McCarney had classes in the 30's. If not, then my memory is completely shot.

Yeah I've seen people say this is the best class, and you are right it isn't. early 2000's we had some very high classes.

What a great signing day. After the way the last 3 seasons went we should be thrilled to have a class in the 40s! This first year may still be rough but I have to think we have a great future ahead of us with this talent. Way to go CMC and staff!

Gotta admit, after seeing what CMC has put together it makes me question what the hell CPR's recruiting philosophy even was. Whatever perceived limitations were out there for recruiting to ISU/Ames, CMC basically said to hell with that and went out and killed it.

Was simply going off of Scout - i know Rivals had us with a year or two that we were higher....

But, in the last 15 years - this is the best class that ISU has ever had according to Scout....previous high was 50 in 2005 and the lowest was 80. We've had classes of 5 in the 50's, 5 in the 60's, 3 in the 70's and 1 in the 80's and todays somewhere around 43-45 by the time the day is done....Impressive!

Well, we finally got some players into Ames. Time to coach them and the rest into Big 12 players.

After seeing what CMC has done in 2 months, it makes me think a 9 or 10 win season somewhere down the line isn't out of the realm of possibility. Exciting times.

He had decent classes but a lot of his star recruits didn't make it. The Patrick Webster saga was one for the ages. He also relied exclusively on a lot of JUCO talent, so he was more like a Bill Snyder in that regard. The Fisher twins come to mind there.
