I'm going to need a distraction to keep me occupied until Friday night. Let's talk 80/35. The lineup announcements start coming in on April 15th. I can think of one artist right off the top of my head I would happily pay double the ticket price to see in Des Moines.

Ray Lamontagne - Supporting his new album Supernova which was produced by Dan Auerbach. In the midwest through June 27th and then no dates scheduled again until 7/10.

I have heard rumors that booking has proved to be very difficult this year with a couple of more festivals to compete with. I am not too optomistic.

I'm preparing to be underwhelmed as has been the case the past couple of years. Big Wu-Tang fan, not a big Wu-Tang concert fan.

It's a possibility for sure - the summer music festival market is totally oversaturated. But it depends on what you want out of a music festival. What 80/35 has done a really nice job of is surrounding some so-so headliner acts with really strong second tier acts that haven't blown up yet. Music junkies are going to be drawn to 80/35 for the chance to catch something new without having to pay an exorbitant amount for tickets.

Rap in concert is usually a let down. I did see The Roots live and it was awesome, but that is because they play instruments.

They've approached Ray before and he wanted WAY too much money. I don't know if they'll give it another go with him.

Yeah, I figured he might be out of their price range but I'll keep my fingers crossed nonetheless. Just out of curiosity, how do you know they approached him?

That was the early rumor...and then at least a couple of those festivals ended up folding. Wish I could find the article.

80/35 could really benefit from a group with a following like 311. If they want to sell tickets this is the way to do it. I know I'd be in for it.
