And it helps if the other team leaves you wide open from 3.
And can't hit anything.

If we learned anything from the football season, its that winning this game doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Tonight sucked, but we had plenty of **** nights last year and made a sweet 16. Lots of season left. When we suck at football and we suck at basketball....tough times
Huge disappointment...... and these announcers just made it worse
Yeah a lot of wide open stuff. Pretty much all our biggest fears came true in this oneTheir close outs on D have been worse than what Hoiberg's teams played like.
Also panicked on O.
I can handle lots of pain in life because I'm a Cyclone fan. So in a way, thanks Iowa State UniversityI have considered it a character building experience my entire life. I have a SHITLOAD of character.
I don’t think tonight is about NIL, we’re just getting our ass kicked. I was responding to why we didn’t get a transfer shooter in this year. Top end shooters are going for a min of 500k and some a couple times that.
Shoon and Holmes picked us over some offers, but several others - even those that we absolutely would have gotten if not for NIL didn’t. That keep our ceiling pretty low this year IMHO.
what were they supposed to do.? Iowa state was a giant piece of garbage 2 seconds into the game. They had nothing to talk about, there was no game tonight. I can't imagine getting ready to announce this game and have Iowa lose their best player and Iowa state's players got drunk this afternoon.Huge disappointment...... and these announcers just made it worse
In honor of Iowa's last sweet 16, here is the #1 song at that time
TJ should tell the guys get the margin under 20 and we'll forget about tonight.really was hoping for a 19 to 15 loss, vs a 20 to 25 point loss.
It’s unfortunate very true. Believe me, I’d love for it not to be. Have you not seen the NIL funds with 20-25mil annual goals even at schools like Iowa? Go check my Iowa NIL Update thread if you want to know where they’re headed.I’m not connected and have no actual way of knowing, but I highly, highly doubt this is correct.
Yeah, and that gave them the loose feeling and then it was easy after that. We may need to be careful how much we double in the lane at the beginning of games from here on out.Man, watching those highlights they were wide open on those 3s…
And Creighton was beat by Nebraska.
Games like this happen. We weren't paying anyone huge sums of money to anyone last year when we owned Iowa or even made the sweet sixteen.
I wouldn't even know why this should be a way to rationalize games like this.
The guys weren't prepared........that's on coach. ISU is just getting it's butt kicked plain and simple.
It's just one game. People donating a half a mil. for a shooter wouldn't have done a thing for tonight's type of performance outside of making the final score closer.
500k and that was for a defensive guy.Not saying he’s a top end shooter, but what did Hunter go for?
Again, when you are playing as physically as our guys do on defense, you can’t just suddenly shift away from that on offense. It’s a reason our ball-handling is so messy, why we miss so many bunnies, and why our 3-point shooting is so inconsistent. Sometimes our guys can find their rhythm when playing against other teams that aren’t aggressive on defense. But if you play up to our energy like the Hawks have tonight, we can’t relax on the offensive side of the ball and then we are a mess.
We are going to have bad shooting nights - that is who we are.I get what you are saying but don’t think they played less hard early than usual to get that massive deficit, the flow of the game just didn’t fit the style where they can be successful and they couldn’t recover talent wise. Don’t think it’s an effort thing.
