I was at a bar with no audio on, but since when does Daren Devries play this style of basktball? I've seen him many times at Drake and they played uptempo and weren't physical at all.

This reminded me of thre Huggins teams where they foul all the time so the refs can't call everything. I honestly lost alot of respect for Devires today, that's garbage basketball.
Wow. Your basketball takes continue to get worse and worse. God forbid a coach does something to lessen the gap in talent to try and win a game.

A think a huge amount of the poor shooting was not getting good shots. Our guys were doing too much dribbling and not moving the ball enough to move the defense. It's disappointing to see them play so poorly, but I suppose it could be seen as encouraging that we stayed in the game while playing like crap.
Other years we lose by 20

TJ's strategy the first couple years was conceptually similar (keep score and possessions low via defense) but it was not Huggins ball, which was what we saw from WVU last night. Constant grabbing clutching pushing shoving etc. They were hooking/pinning Jefferson's off-arm down as soon as he caught the ball in the post and riding him like that until he shot or passes and not getting called for it. We didn't do that that kind of ****.

There was a possession where Tamin had the ball barely past halfcourt, trying to dribble while facing the basket and spent the whole possession repeatedly swatting Small's arm away as he was arm-barring him the whole time.
Life on the road in the Big XII. We didn't get a lot of calls, but that's not why we lost.

Back to first point, with Milan out for another month, could you weave Nojus into the mix in spots, maybe as opportunity allows?
I really think Nojus needs to be starting. It would give him the boost of confidence he needs being thrown into the wolves and it would essentially be able to keep the rotations nearly the same as what they were with Milan playing.

Nojus will make Freshman mistakes but it's really nothing we didn't see from Milan last year or haven't seen this year from anyone. He'll give up a back door cut, he'll turn the ball over, he'll commit a dumb foul but his ability on offense is what we're gonna need going forward. Heck, just him catching a pass from someone would be an improvement over the past 2 games then what we've gotten out of Watson. I don't think he's caught a pass yet and that makes guarding him pretty easy and disrupts moving the ball around. Que hero ball.

I agree on him getting some playing time as I've mentioned a couple of times but starting seems a little aggressive. We need his shot making ability. Of course the team is top 5 so not sure how much we should be criticizing coaches

WVU faced the loss of 3 starters @ Kansas, 2 of its top 3 scorers. When the rotation shrinks, guys who normally dont plat have to play and step up.

WVU is now playing guys in its 8 man rotation that no one thought would see the floor this year.

In big 12, you cant roll with 7 guys--you will get worn down. WVU slows it down bc it has little depth.

Devries even said, one thing that helped vs ISU, unlike Houston, is that ISU didnt throw 10 guys at WVU and wear them down.

Yet we still had a good chance to win.

Heise looked lost on the offensive (very indecisive wether to shoot or pass) end of the floor. Milan spacing was missed on the offensive end. Tough loss- too many turnovers and 1-17 from behind the 3 point line.

Starting him gives you the option to take him out after 3 minutes to coach him on the bench of what the play is like without disrupting much of the rotations the guys have grown accustomed too. It's all about routines that have been proven to work really well. All it takes is 1 little hiccup in the routine to cause some havoc which I think we seen yesterday.

Get accustomed to playing 28-30 minutes and playing really hard during your time in. Now see that you're gonna have to play 36-38 minutes and you'll start conserving energy while you're on the floor at certain times. That's typically not the style of play we've been playing this year.

You think they weren’t playing hard? I agree with CW postgame that they’ll probably decide to tweak the rotation because those minutes aren’t sustainable, but don’t see this happening.

This the 1st game the Cyclones were not the tougher team down the stretch. Vs Auburn was a tie. Travel, missing a starter, tough environment all contributed, but WVU was the tougher, more confident team over the final few minutes.

The bold is just silly. He's an excellent coach and his team played the way it had to in order to win.
He is a Tavern Hawk and should be treated accordingly IMHO.
