We don't have the studs to line up four and cover routes. Defense designed to force a team to do long drives. Only have to stop one third down to get off the field. It will never look great against quality teams, but it keeps us in the game until the end. That is what ISU football is based on. Not going to change.
Read my post which was long before we won. THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET FROM CMC & STAFF. WE CANNOT DO THE TYPICAL BECAUSE WE DON"T HAVE THE STUDS TO DO IT. SOME SAY MIX IN FOUR MAN LINE. I SAY BE GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO. PLAYERS DONT HAVE TO THINK. JUST PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Completely missing the point. Texas was running it down our throats all game, and on first down got 5 yards with a run up the middle. Second and third downs he threw, and was forced to punt on 4th, leading to our game winning drive. It’s one thing to play conservative, it’s another to go completely away from what has been working for you all game when the situation calls for it.
Great point. Imagine if the roles were reversed : our fan base would rightfully be in a rage if we didn't run the ball on 2nd & 3rd downs with short yardage to go. Glad Herman decided to air it out! BTW, Bankston came up huuuuuuge today!!!

They're problem-solvers. They found a way.

(Also, I'm pretty sure our D had something to do with it.)

Ehlinger missed a lot of throws. Add in some penalties and it didn't help.

Texas absolutely manhandled us at the line of scrimmage. In general, Ehlinger had all day to throw the ball and Texas almost always got the first push on both sides of the ball. With that said, Ehlinger missed on a some open (they were there) long throws, and also on some outs as well. TBH Texas' skill players were less than impressive.

It felt like we had a decisively better passing attack, better QB play, the better back, and the TEs were simply unstoppable. Texas left a lot on the table but we did too with penalties and poor clock management at the end of the first half. All in all the game was a toss up on the field and the scoreboard was a pretty accurate reflection of that (thought both teams probably should have had at least 7 more points).
