Nuggets sign Curtis Jones

I was looking at what the Nuggets have to replace:

Backup PG: Westbrook (Maybe they'd bring back Monte??)
3rd string PF: Vlatko Cancar
4th string C: DeAndre Jordan

Might be hard to make opening day roster unless he can compete with Jalen Pickett & Julian Strawther. Both of which they have draft capital invested in and are under contract for two more years. I suppose they could just go guard heavy and sign him but I would assume they would replace guys at positions they lost. You can only dress 12 so you'd hate to stash a guy like Curtis and not get him playing time. Not saying its impossible but he'd have to show out in the summer league.

Making a two way may be easier but with G Tamar Bates (nearly a 50/40/90 guy last year!) already signing a two way deal that only leaves two spots. Trey Alexander was the only guard on a two way last year, he was great in the G league but had horrible splits with the nuggets in the limited time he played. It’s certainly possible they go guard heavy in either the three remaining roster positions or two of the two-way spots left but we will see. Trades/releases can happen too so who knows.

I should have been clearer with “Roster spot” - I think he’s got a good opportunity for a 2-way contract. I also haven’t been tracking the Nuggets roster (at all), so you’ve got better analysis. I don’t know what was on the table
For Curt, but it seems like he chose to sign somewhere that gives him a good chance at a 2-way at least.

He was nearly automatic with the tear drop/runner at times this year, plus he has a good handle and range from three. Hope it works out

His best chance for the NBA is to become a 3-point specialist who is efficient enough on defense to stay on the floor for stretches. AJ Green for Milwaukee is a good comp.

It's one of those sports that I think is better live than on tv, the skill level of the players is just unbelievable. I just wish they call the fouls, traveling and the rest of the crap they let them get away with.

It's really difficult to grasp how tall and agile they are on TV, seeing it live, if you can get down low is a treat.

It seemed like he took less of a beating than Keshon did with his layups.

Professional sports are like anything else, if you just want to see a game, middle of the week, you can get good to decent tickets for around $100 a seat. Now try to get a seat during the weekend or a really good team and it's going to cost you.

I think we were only just starting to see his potential last season. He's a well rounded player with deadly shooting potential, so I have to think he'll stick somewhere and have a nice career.

If 1st team All-Conference is just scratching his potential, he'll have an NBA career like Georges.

I'm probably trying too hard, but his game seems similar to Jamal Murray's with less hops but maybe more D. Both are 6'4" combo guards that can get in the lane and get on heaters from 3.

I’m not sure Curtis isn’t better on defense. Especially in a 10 minutes a game role. Murray way better attacking rim obviously.

He has a great “court sense.” His interviews are awesome because he can recreate what was happening on the play. I expect him to impress a coach with his sense of where to be and what to do.

Great opportunity for Curtis. Maybe not as a rookie, but I believe that with his elite scoring skills, Curtis can eventually be a rotation player in the NBA.

McGee truly was a hyper efficient bench player, it's crazy there's a debate if CuJo isn't our best guard off the bench in the past 20 years.

CuJo could be a guy who is useful, a great teammate/culture guy, no drama, and relatively cheap. Like Georges, he could stick maybe a long while. Hope he does, good to see good people do well.

CuJo and the Nuggets taking out OKC next year would be awesome. I don't care if he's sitting at the end of the bench, just would love to see it.
