NO way because of the tradition that these three schools have with ND, having them on the schedule is worth it. They have been playing ND for four decades or more. That is not going to stop.

Just like Texas and Texas A and M will always play right? Michigan would love to get out of playing ND, and my guess is when we go to 9 Big 10 conf games that is the end of Mich/ND series.

I'm on record as predicting that ND and Texas, if they do anything together, will be forming a brand new conference. On record on this board as claiming that against much opposition.

That is still a possibility - if and only if the Big 12 blows up completely.

But would the B1G take ND? In a heartbeat. And would ND join the B1G or the Big East ahead of the Big 12 as presently constituted? Every time.

That is all.

I love how your predictions are ok, but anybody throwing numbers and reasons for ND to Big XII is CRAZY.

Carry on!

Yeah and Nebraska and Colorade played teams in the former Big 8 for years also. But you're right that didn't change either....

Why would ND come to the Big 12? Those who say its possible is because ND could have their own network ala Texas. Well it'd have to be something new than what they have, NBC isn't going to sit and be relegated to Tier 3 content like the LHN is.

Not sure what you're trying to say here.

ND can keep its NBC 1st tier contract for its FB home games only, enter into a new 3rd tier contract arrangement with ESPN or Comcast/NBC (or another provider) and still be able to join the B12. The B12 is the only conference that would permit such an arrangement.

Who says that ND could keep their NBC contract at Tier 1? The LHN is allowed but it is for Tier 3, wouldn't that have to be the case for ND or any other school coming in? Or would the Big 12 make an exception for ND?

Would ESPN/ABC and Fox allow NBC to come in and take Tier 1 rights from the conference contracts?

ND's Tier 1 NBC contract expires at the same time (2015) as the B12's Tier 1 contract with ESPN/ABC. Until that time, the B12 could live with that NBC contract as-is if ND decides to join the B12.

If ND does join the B12, there likely would be just one Tier 1 contract starting in 2016 for the B12 as one network would make worthwhile to do so, namely ESPN. But I wouldn't rule out the B12 providing flexibility for ND to continue their relationship with NBC. NBC could also be a very strong bidder for the entire B12 Tier 1 deal with ND but given ESPN''s relationship with UT and LHN, ESPN wouldl do everything possible to keep the B12's Tier 1 rights if ND is in the fold.
