Why would they let up recruiting? If they go elsewhere they will just take the recruits that they built relationships with here to their next stop.

Agreed. Usually it’s not lack of recruiting that hits them, it’s the poor results that couple with the loss of the honeymoon excitement that kills off prospects. Right now CMC is leaving the honeymoon timeframe but still has excitement growing. Finishing third in the big XII, I nearly wet myself again just typing that, will keep kids interested.

I don't save my back issues of preseason mags. But most seasons this decade, going by memory, ISU usually was projected nationally between high-50s to low-80s.

I don't expect the league coaches to pick us #3. It irks them that we are now a big obstacle in the league unlike in the past.

Fortunately, most of the league coaches weren’t around in that particular “past”. And one of the two that was, distinctly knows what an “obstacle” Iowa State can be.
