Rematch deserved, but Sugar Bowl a travesty - College Football - Rivals.com

The pertinent paragraphs read:

"People say Alabama had its shot? Well, Oklahoma State had its shot, too. All the Cowboys had to do was win their final two games and they were in the title game. Then they went to Ames and were shocked by 29-point underdog Iowa State.

That invoked a little-known BCS bylaw, rule 10.3.1.14, which reads thusly: Any team that loses to Iowa State is automatically ineligible to win the national title.

Alabama lost by three to the undisputed No. 1 team in the land. Oklahoma State lost to a Cyclones team that finished 6-6. There is no comparison."

I saw that. Even when we doing something special the media has to find a way to tear us down.

#2 sched in the country and the media is making ISU out to be some terrible team. The #2 SCHEDULE in the country, with a freshman QB....and ISU is STILL Bowl bound. **** all of 'em. 8 teams bowling in the toughest conference in the country. The Big 12 had the BEST non-conference record as well.

The Big 12 got jobbed today.

What is going to happen if Alabama wins by a field goal in overtime, and OSU wins big over Stanford? LSU is the team that gets screwed here, they shouldn't have to play someone they already beat, especially when they are undefeated.

And every single Big 12 team we played, except Kansas, was either ranked when we played them or is ranked right now.

You've still got the coaches poll. We could easily have a split champion. I hope there is! **** Bama and LSU!

Insulted? Hell yes. Just goes to show that outside of Ames, the national media will always view us as lowly Iowa State until we win 8+ games a year on a consistent basis.

Missouri?

But really, that's pretty sick...7 of 9 teams were either ranked then OR are ranked now. Shows the parity within the league and the toughness top-to-bottom. Mizzou may not have been ranked but they ended with 7 wins and are going bowling too.

Ha, just read that article and came here to see if it was mentioned. What a donkey's butt. He makes it sound like we lost to NICC (do they even have a football team?) One of the toughest schedules in the country - playing how many ranked teams? And winning against two of them. Oh, and switching QBs partway through the season. To a freshman. Even when we do well we aren't respected.

Hopefully that will change over the next few years.

F them. Seriously. F them.

Come to Ames, douchebags. See who we are and how we're not a bunch of dumb hicks. ISU is a great academic institution, with the most loyal fan base in the country. We have great coaches, awesome tailgating, improving facilities...we just averaged more than 52,000 fans a game this year at JTS. What would that put us in the Big East, 2nd? The Pac-12? The ACC?

Suck it. I want to destroy the BCS more today than ever. If ESPN and the SEC-dominated media wants to stick a middle finger up to us, then we should stick our middle finger right back up and go undefeated in our bowl games. We should absolutely OWN Rutgers in NYC on December 30th. Then, after we win, we should talk smack about everyone else because we will have proven that the Big XII is an amazing league and that ISU deserves our spot at the table of major conference college football.

Phew. Glad I got all that out.

They see 6-6 (3-6) and think mediocre. What they don't see is exactly what you said - #1 or 2 toughest schedule in the nation, taking K-State to the wire, playing tough against Oklahoma, beating the #2 team in the nation, and doing it with a QB change in the middle of the season. I am SO PROUD to be a Cyclone right now and I know that our 6-6 in the Big XII means a heck of a lot more than an 8-4 in the Big East or the ACC.

If you gave us Rutgers' schedule this year, how do you think we would have done?

North Carolina Central (what division is this?) W
@ North Carolina Tossup
Ohio U (Frank Solich) W
@ Syracuse W
Pittsburgh W
Navy W
@ Louisville Tossup
West Virginia Tossup
USF W
@ Army W
Cincinnati Tossup
@ UConn (automatic W here as we beat them)

So, I give us 8 wins plus 4 tossups. Divide those 50/50 - I think we could beat Cincinnati and Louisville but might lose @ UNC and against WV at home. You give us Rutgers' schedule, and we finish 10-2 (6-1) and are in a BCS game this year.

And just so you know, EVERY ONE of these teams is ranked below us in Sagarin. We'd be favored in EVERY SINGLE ONE of these games by that system. 12-0.
