The thought that has been rattling around in my head, and this is purely from the limited observation of the recruitment of Harrison Barnes, through this site and articles on the HB.

I have a really good feeling that Coach McDermott handled this recruitment in the only way that could possibly lead to success. I think he encouraged Harrison to fully explore his options, to the point where he didn't even request that HB take an official visit to ISU so that he could add another school visit/experience to his decision making process. I think he has taken the role of a mentor and advisor, and kept the pressure extremely low. As I've said, this is probably all a speculation/ outside looking in kind of theory, but I feel like that's the way it was handled, in spectacularly patient fashion with the highest integrity, and I think it just may have been the perfect way to do it. Even if Barnes chooses to go elsewhere.

Good point. As the HC at ISU, it isn't like you can lean on a great recruit and "force" a committment. Also, when that Great recruit lives in Ames, you can't "sell" the university and city. That recruit already knows all. The only thing you can sell is your integrity and mentorship. I'm comfortable that Mac and staff have done ALL they can to get HB to sign at ISU. If it doesn't happen, it won't have been from lack of effort.

I can't wait until the presser tomorrow. HB signing with ISU is on par with Johnny Orr becoming HC.
