Both Wisconsin and Michigan State athletic departments have almost double the revenue that Iowa State does. And both football programs are light years ahead of where we are.

Strange that they pay their coaches roughly the same or just barely more than we do. Minus Izzo of course but he's top 5 all time so you can't compare him IMO.

This is a spicy take. And by spicy I mean delusional

We only pay CMC 500k less than Wisconsin does Chryst and 400k less than MSU does Dantonio. Rumor was Campbell even turned down a big raise to pay his assistants. The money is there

Money isn't the only thing that makes a job a lateral move

Obviously I don’t know what Campbell’s intentions are but I don’t think he leaves at least until Purdy is gone.

With that said, I also know a team like Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan St, etc. will probably reel him in eventually.

I don’t think ISU can get to the level where those schools are consistently.

I hope like heck the guy wants to be here a long time, it just seems far fetched.

And I can see him bolting for the next opportunity as well.

I work with a Gopher fan and he appreciates a bit of winning but doesn't buy Fleck at all....and talks about how they've done well before and he'll be gone as soon as he gets a chance.

I'm gonna guess Brent Venables takes the job.

I'll stand by my previous statements that the only 3 jobs that concern me are Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan. Penn State a distant 4th but I could believe it.

Nowhere else is worth the pressure, not in the Midwest, or is a lateral move
I would Mich State to this list.

Campbell at 3 to 1 odds for Florida state job.

That is absolutely ludicrous. I will admit that I get a bit nervous about these job openings and Campbell on an annual basis, but I have zero nervousness about this one. FSU just proved that there is no job security in that position - no ability to actually build a program. Don't win year one? You're gone before you finish year 2. Not many current Power 5 coaches are going to jump at that, unless they are currently on the hot seat at present job.

In addition, FSU is on the hook for $17 Million for Taggart, they are not going to add $20 Million to bring in Campbell, even if he were to be interested.

Actually it is not Vegas - it is an offshore sportsbook based in Panama. I saw the same tweet from McMurphy and others. It is not Vegas odds.

Mark Stoops is a proven big-time winner at UK. He'd be my first choice. Someone who has won at the highest level, will instill some discipline, and comes from the south.

The second choice would be an up-and-comer, Norvell from Memphis. But that's taking a bigger chance, see Virginia Tech today.

I don't believe FSU can afford Campbell nor do I believe he'd be interested or a good fit down there.

I think it was a Kansas State problem not a Brent problem.

One of my customers is a KState alum and is the equivalent of the directors level for the cyclone club, basically the highest without giving millions. He is probably the closest I'd ever get to inside info to KState football.

Anyway, he said the money was there but there were some other big money donators that didn't want Brent because he'd clean house including getting rid of Sean, who is Bill Snyder's son (edit: not Dan Snyder). Brent supposedly said he'd want to run the team his own way and a lot of people weren't happy about that.

No idea if it's actually true but that guy is the biggest KSU fan I know and is successful enough to afford the big money donations. He even invited me to a suite for the ISU game a couple years back (damn company ethics policy wouldn't let me). So I'm inclined to believe him.

That's absolute poppycock. Klieman cleaned house and Sean was relegated to a desk job. Venables has a son on the Clemson team, is making $2 million-plus a year, and has long said he'd not take the job after Snyder. Your source must be at the hundred and fifty dollar level.
