You do all realize NIL Stands for name, image and likeness? It has nothing to do with what a school "pays" an athlete. They may help set up sponsors and such to use that players name, image and likeness and pay the athlete to use them. What a school is willing to pay is at there own discretion and comes from donors and other fundraising. It is not NIL. With Audis speaking ability, marketability and being a 2 TIME all American she could definitely get paid very well if she would have chose to enter the portal.
NIL to me is just part of the whole pay for play we have for college athletics. It is part of a payment packages a school, Collective a sponsors put together.

High school players can have NIL deals before they even commit to a college.... players have NIL deals that would follow them no matter where they play. Not all or even a majority of NIL deals have anything to do with the schools

True, but if Audi Crooks entered the Portal, then went to UCLA her Fareway NIL would make no sense. My guess is UCLA would help her find a local retailer to help offset the loss on the Fareway NIL.

I may be misreading the tea leaves but I'm thinking Audi's NIL value drops a fair bit if she's not in Iowa.
A big part of her appeal is the local girl exceeding expectations.
Luckily her leaving is not a problem we have to address this yr and hopefully for her career.

She is known on a national level not just local. You would not believe the number of fans of hers from all over..opposing teams and the Like... that come up to her after away games or on travels that want pictures and autographs with her or that recognize her. She is not just a local iowa and Midwest celebrity...she is know VERY well on a national level as well

Lots of NIL deals are regional. Wouldn’t make sense for an Iowa based company to have an NIL deal with an Iowan playing in LA.

So you don't think she wouldn't have gotten other regional deals elsewhere if she had chosen to enter the portal? Or maybe even more national deals? She is one of the top players in all of NCAA WOMANS BASKETBALL! Not just local or the Big 12. Top 5 finalist for center of the year as a sophomore. Think you all are under playing the value she brings and has brought to ISU in only 2 years! I think she would have been one of the most sought after players in the portal had she chosen to enter it. I for one am extremely glad she chose to stay and look forward to the improvements she makes in the off season to make her an even better player than she been the first 2 years at ISU!

No I think she would do just fine. You brought up what NIL is. I was commenting on that. NIL is just part of the new pay for play model. Yes I think Audi could get alot from pay for play elsewhere, including different NIL deals. I also think Addy might get more if either we're to move on. In the current form they both are in I think Addy is the more valuable player to a team with other great players.

I have a theory ... when I was the age of these basketball players (18-22) I made a bunch of really stupid money decisions. I was all about having fun and hanging out with my friends.
So, just maybe, these women like being around each other, maybe they have fun playing basketball with each other at Iowa State, maybe Bill is tough, but respected. Maybe the players realize that Bill does legitimately care about them. Maybe it's fun for them to play at Hilton in-front of 9k-10k people every night, instead of some the places where the only people that show up are friends and family. Oh, and one more thing, maybe some of them realize they they will be going pro is something besides sports, and a degree from Iowa State University is valuable. Just a theory.

I will say, I have seen them post a lot of stuff doing fun things together. At least outwardly they seem to really enjoy their teammates.

For example, they little dance thing they do after a win is fun to watch. It was funny and heartwarming to see the more serious members (Em) do the victory dance with the rest of them.

If I’m her ( and Brown), why wouldn’t you negotiate for more NIL? Good business sense and it’s how it works. If she took a home town discount , good for her, but don’t hold it against the players if they don’t. He’ll, coaches have played the game for years with much higher stakes.
Some of us don't really care who is on the team, we've cheered for the Cyclones longer than these kids have been alive. That applies in all sports.

This is another BIG portal announcement. Seem some speculation that she's probably looking to play her senior year at a Sweet Sixteen type team to maybe get more attention for the WNBA rather than play on an Indiana team that will not be as good her next year.

Not likely an interest either way for ISU, not a good fit for here or what we need more but certainly will be interesting to see where she lands.

WTF is up with Indiana?
Teri Moren is a good coach and I thought well liked by her players. Portal to hell!
