I am tired of every women’s basketball thread being about wanting to get rid of the coach. I have mixed feelings on the matter. I think ultimately women would prefer a woman coach but I probably view it based on my creepy inappropriate male hs basketball coach. That is not BF. On the other hand, I think he has earned the right to retire on his terms, not because CF hates him.
I'm not sure this is 100% true based on my daughter's experience playing at a D1 school.
In her 5 years, her head coach was a woman and most of the assistants were women. If you asked her I know she would tell you I would much rather play for a man. She would also say that having an entire staff of women is the worst.

Part of it is the whole idea that women can’t be leaders, which is offensive. Men flip out over women coaching them, reffing their games, and even announcing men’s games. But it is just accepted that men can have these roles in the women’s game.

Part of it is not understanding women’s health issues and anatomy or connecting well emotionally with women.

With our high school coach, he would claim not to know girls were still showering when he would walk in without knocking. At least at the college level there are trainers. They probably don’t feel compelled to touch your inner thigh to tape your ankle. I talked the female PE teacher into taping my ankle well ahead of game or practice time to avoid him and pretty soon she had everyone who needed taping going to her.

I keep hoping that what we saw (lack of defensive movement) late in the season was due to her apparent leg injury. 100% agree with further conditioning and foot work practice on D. She already is a force on offense and showed the ability to grow by developing a short range jump shot/fade last off season. She improved her free throw shooting dramatically throughout this season and I expect that to continue in the off season. I’m excited to see what new skills she adds to her toolbox for next year. We already know she's not afraid of the hard work.
FYI: Saw Audi after the last home game. She had her knee wrapped in an ice bag. So her leg injury is not just "apparent". Just sayin'.

I used the word apparent as I don’t think has been talked about much As compared to the obvious seeing AJ in a boot and coach actually addressing it.

It's a touchy subject. I agree she certainly seems somewhat babied here and sort of said as much in pointing out in my opinion she seems to be treated like a diva. I am not expecting much change, just a more experienced version of what you see now is what you will see over the next two years. Expecting big changes from her or a coach in his late 60's seems unlikely.

Good news is unless a few teams get a significant makeover in the portal season Iowa State just needs to hold place. I expect the league to be significantly weaker in 2025-2026. A couple of weaker teams are getting some ranked HS recruits but overall the league has not recruited well after the last remake.

Got a laugh during a middle-of-season post game interview with Audi & Addy. Addy referred to Audi as queen!

I don’t think Audi makes as much NIL money elsewhere. She has a good deal with fareway and a couple other places.
Have you not been paying attention? I'm genuinely confused how you could think this. She would make WAY more elsewhere.

Sadly, I expect Addy and Audi to test the portal. I don't think either of them looked like they were having fun this year, and neither has improved under the current staff.

I saw a female talking head the other day saying to reach her full potential Crooks needs to transfer to someplace like South Carolina. Basically said she’s being babied here and with the right conditioning she could become a force someday in the WNBA. I’m hoping Audi takes those words to heart and decides to prove them wrong and does what’s needed right here in Ames. I mean let’s be honest how many third team all Americans have you seen that allows the person she’s defending to shoot uncontested jumpers inside the free throw line?
The staff has not insisted on a conditioning plan for her, and it is doing her a disservice. She's probably 50-75% the player she could be.

Say whatever you want about Jan Jensen, but she is great at developing post players. She must lay awake at night thinking of what she could do with someone like Audi.

Did you hear Addy's interview after the Princeton Game. She seemed the to love her team.

That must be why we lost both of them last year.

You obviously haven’t been around the team in the off season. Crooks has developed exponentially in her strength and conditioning in her two years here. She was severely limited by her knee injury the last part of the season.

She has put back on every pound she lost and then some. She's a total liability on defense. On offense, no one has apparently taught her to shot fake. She gets more shots blocked than any center I've ever seen in my life. She is not getting the coaching she deserves.

Saw that Jalyn Brown from ASU was in the portal. She was nasty good this year.
Peterson from UCF is in the portal with one year left. She was a fantastic guard as well.
Taliah Scott from Auburn is another scorer with three years left. Suffered a year ending wrist injury early this season, but averaged 22ppg as a fresh at Arkansas.
there’s a bunch of guards in the portal already, but only a handful that jump out to me.

Well, presumably they've had the tough conversations with the ladies. I have no info, but I would expect defections (if there are any) to start soon.

Jalyn Brown would be a great get but doubt we will land her or she wont want to come here
