Getting back to Niang, how about comparing Georges to Bill Laimbeer? Bill was not athletic and was not the best defender (too slow) but, like Georges, he had: a superior knowledge of the game, leadership skills, dedication to teamwork, and a focus on winning at any cost. Bill was taller but Georges has better offensive skills. I even think that Georges can get under the opponents skin whenever he wants; Bill's favorite tool.

Laimbeer played significant minutes so I don't think it out-of-the-question that Niang could as well.

I don't really buy that. What position is he playing in the NBA? I think Niang can make a roster but he'll get owned on the defensive side of the ball too often to be a starting player.

If he continues to hit the weight room for a few years and improves on D he'd have a chance. Every year a few types who aren't crazy athletic but dominate their conference as seniors get a shot. He's not a player you can leave to double team off of anywhere on the court which puts his offensive game ahead of the majority of rookies every season. Other than DRose, it's been forever since my Bulls drafted a player who couldn't be double teamed off of as a rookie, as much as I love Jimmy Butler now, he was an offensive liability early on.
