if you can get an adrian petersen/darren mcfadden/ladanian tomlinson of that caliber you take them, they are game changers but you also may get lucky in the later rounds. of course a good running back is nothing without a goof offensive line

Of the 32 NFL teams, 27 have first-day picks manning the starting role (29 if you count Cadillac and Brown, who are injured) There are only four undrafted RB's at the top of the depth charts, while 21 teams utilize a former first-round pick. Sure, you can find some late-round gems, but the bottom line is, if you want a starting RB, you better be willing to at least spend a first-day pick on him.

Just 3 changes:

Justin Fargas is the starter for the Raiders - Jordan was a CD demotion
Ahman Green is the starter for the Texans when not hurt
Chris Brown should be considered a "slash" with Lendale White in Tennessee

I'm not sure where any of them were drafted.

It makes some sense to go after a back in the first round but the Chiefs have had some bad luck signing their backs to big money deals. They got undrafted Priest Holmes super cheap from the Ravens and obviously had some great years out of him before he got hurt. They had Johnson to back him up and he was great too when he got his chance. They signed him for a lot of money and he started off really slow behind a bad o-line before getting hurt.

So, then last week they had a 5th round rookie, Kolby Smith, rush for 150 yards in his first start. Granted it was against the Raiders and only one game but when you look at how long most running backs are effective in this league I think finding a young one would make more sense than locking up an older one for a lot of money.

Looking at the list there aren't a ton of older players on it, especially when you see how Alexander, Edge, and Tomlinson all aren't putting up the insane numbers they were a few years ago.

What is now occurring in the NFL is the RB is getting injured 2-5 weeks after getting the starting nod. Talk about banged up. The days of lugger Emmitt Smith appeer gone. Was Jim Brown ever injured even though he wore no hip pads?

It'd be nice if someone picked up Troy Davis.

Miami needs someone real bad. Ricky Williams:sad: hurt a chest muscle and is out after six carries this year. What a stud. Another Cedric benson is out for the year. He was a disappointment.

If you have a first round pick and need a running back ou have to go with Darren Mcfadden its just that simple, too much gamebreaking potential to pass it up. Why wouldnt you take the best player in the draft, who has a ton of potential? It just would not make sense not to take him.

After seeing Rodgers perform in the Cowboys game I feel he should be a good player in the NFL. While he fill Farve sized shoes, no but what do you expect, there's 2 players currently in the NFL who could do that.

Agreed. Look at Adrian Peterson for the Vikes this year. If you have a chance to get the Top 1 or 2 running backs in the draft, I'd say do it. If not, it seems like a lot of the "other" guys are kind of a crapshoot.

Taking McFadden this year would worry me for the simple fact he has chicken legs. I can easily see him go out with a broken leg once he starts to take a pounding in the NFL.
