Your telling me him and his 137 sacks, 4 time pro bowler, 2 time all pro and super bowl MVP doesn't deserve to be in the HOF? Thats a joke.

John Randle:14 years, 7 pro bowls, 137.5 sacks, 1 int, 29 forced fumbles
Richard Dent:15 years, 4 pro bowls, 137.5 sacks, 8 int, 37 forced fumbles

Seems you have a pretty good arguement to me!!

Randle was double and triple teamed his whole career. He was the vikings defense for years. Dent was an awesome player and no doubt has identical stats, but you had to man up and play Chicago in those days. Randle also wore face paint. Advantage Randle.

The real crime is no Shannon Sharpe - he was a beast who changed the TE position opening the door for many of the current TE. He will eventually get in, but with 3 Super Bowl rings should have been a first ballot Hall of Famer.

How long has Sharpe been out? That's a first ballot HOF player there. I always had a strong dislike for the guy, but that is the Chief in me.

Wasn't it Buddy Ryan that said "all he does is catch touchdowns" when the eagles traded him??? DUH.....isn't that what you want??

Yeah, but there's more behind that quote than the obvious. CC had pretty severe substance abuse problems when he was with Philly, and that's the main reason that Buddy Ryan released him, not because he was a bad receiver. Both have admitted as much in interviews. It was a wake up call to Carter that he needed to change. The "All he does..." quote was just a flippant remark made by Ryan, and he likely knew exactly what he was saying.

Gotcha....never knew the whole story, just remember the quote.

It was a little more than that. Ryan was serious, it just didnt sound right. He meant that Cris came up with catches when he got 6 for them but wasn't really trying the rest of the time. He wanted a reciever you could count on for the whole 100 yard field.

He does deserve to be in, just maybe not first ballot.

This makes zero sense to me. Either you are a HOFer or you are not. You should get one opportunity, and thats it.

If you have to think about it for several years, then obviously you are not good enough. Their stats do not improve after a few more years.

Right. That's what I've always gotten from it. There were routes back then that Cris just didn't run, unless there was a touchdown in it for him.
