That's surprising both from a timing perspective and dollars perspective.

Why now and not later? Why that much money?

Seems like a bad look when everyone is losing money.
I think he's one of the top coaches in the Big XII. The raise puts him mid-pack for salary. I imagine the phone will still ring with other job offers, but K-State is doing everything they can to keep him there. I'm not looking forward to playing them, to be honest.

It's a smart move by KSU to try to lock him up. The timing of it with decreased revenue is a little strange, though.

If Pollard did this, I would expect the contract to be back-loaded to help with current cash flow. Will be interesting to see the year-by-year breakdown.

As I've said before, the key to Klieman is keeping Gene Taylor as K-State A.D.

As for salary, Klieman's no longer the lowest-paid coach in the league, that's now Les Miles.

And Klieman just caught up with CMC's salary but will be paid half of what both Herman and Riley make at their respective schools.

Rumors are strong that this contract-extension negotiation with Klieman started last spring when Michigan State came after for him to replace Dantonio. The contract extension was signed before the OU game.
