I don't know if you like Sci-fi stuff or not...but regardless watch District 9. Sure it has aliens in it but surprisingly that's not what the story is about. That's all I'll say besides watch it.

Another darker film is Rampage. I don't know how to describe that one. There is definitely some funny parts but NOT a comedy. Still pretty good though.

Moon I thought was very good too but really kinda slow. I did fall asleep watching it and it is long but very good imo. I think Sam Rockwell is a great actor though too.

The Messenger I would recommend too. I had a girl make me watch it with her and really ended up liking it.

Other than that...watch the classics.

Blade Runner
Close encounters of the 3rd kind
Full Metal Jacket
A clockwork Orange
2010
2001
Donnie Darko
The Right Stuff

I'm a big fan of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations from the Travel Channel. Netflix has about 9 seasons I believe on their streaming. I enjoy the blend of cynicism and comedy that he provides while traveling the world and sampling local cuisine and culture.

I would definitely recommend Exit Through the Gift Shop and It Might Get Loud as well. Both were very good.

I would also suggest Blood Into Wine for those that are fans of Maynard James Keenan and/or winemaking.

Also, currently checking out the original BBC version of skins. It's a pretty interesting/kinda f-ed up show.

The Machinist is on there also. Haven't seen it yet, but I've heard many friends recommend it.

The Brotherhood of Justice starring Kiefer Sutherland and Keanu Reeves is by far the worst movie I have seen on there so far. I even like cheesy 80's movies but this pushes the boundaries of unwatchable.
